Regrets

Scripture

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

~Psalm 86:5, NLT

Don’t beat yourself up over something that God has forgiven in the atonement of Christ

~Charles Stanley

Charles Stanley {Every Day In His Presence} begins the  )October 19th devotion with these thoughts: [1] Have you made any reckless or rash decisions that you now regret? Have you squandered opportunities that you cannot get back? Have you failed to show grace is a situation where someone was unloving or unkind? Are there people that you to apologize to for things you have said and done? Have you misused your influence? Have you messed up and now you are reaping the consequences? Then Dr. Stanley asks: “Does this sound like you?” I had to write, “Yes, this is me!” Since reading this devotion, I have wondered if I am the only one who identifies with these questions.” If your answer is ‘yes’, you and I need to talk in private. I am afraid these are issues that most people do not want to discuss, and I suppose that could be a good thing.

Several weeks ago, God convicted me about my unbelief and my doubt; after reading Dr. Stanley thoughts, He convicted me about my less than perfect confidence in the atonement. Was Jesus death on the cross sufficient payment for all our sins–Yours, mine and everyone else? The answer is a resounding YES! The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sins. I like that word ALL. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Paul said in Romans four, For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all. All includes the Gentiles; it includes sinners and all who call upon the LORD. Rest in the atoning work of Jesus: He has paid our debt in full. Rest in His grace and mercy.

I am extremely grateful that DBC sponsored the SAV-A-LIFE banquet last night. Since I am not a member, I can brag on them. This event cost them over $3,000.00 and there were at least 20 there to serve last night including three senior adults. Thank you DBC for being generous and for being Pro-life. We were on the REVIVAL THEME last Sunday and we are going to get another opportunity this Sunday. Five churches are meeting together at Mt. Zion Baptist Church: Mt. Zion, New Center, Gum Springs, DBC, and GRACE POINT. We are going to pack the house. Dr. J. Ted Turrentine is the preacher and Rex Looney is leading the praise and worship. They will have a community choir. If you want to sing in the choir, call Spencer Bell and he will tell you what time to be there.
