Remember Mary

Scripture

For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in Him {Christ}.

Our hope and comfort are in who Christ is, what He has done and what He has promised.

I came across 2 Corinthians 1:20 in my devotional reading yesterday and I read this verse in as many translations as I could find. Basically, what Paul is saying is that Jesus Christ is in essence the fulfillment of all God’s promises. Jesus also made promises and He has perfect integrity and when He makes a promise, we can rest assured He will keep that promise. After Mary became pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit, she went to visit Elizabeth her cousin. Elizabeth was overwhelmed by Mary’s presence and her baby {John} moved in her womb for joy. Then Elizabeth said to Mary, “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said. That is the NLT and it is plain English but the NASB translated each word and not just the context; it reads…And blessed is she [Mary] who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.” Wow, this is the key to victory: standing on the promises of Christ our LORD; fully believing He will do what He promised. The Cowman’s were fond of the Weymouth Translation {which I have not be able to purchase} and it goes like this…”There shall be a performance.” The Greek word translated ‘fulfillment’ or ‘performance’ is teleíōsis, and it can be translated completion, verification, absolution, perfection, or performance. Combine this thought with Luke 1:20 and Gabriel’s words to Zachariah, “And behold, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.” Some translations read, “fulfilled in their season, their fixed appointed time.”

God is going to fulfill every promise. He is going to do this through Jesus Christ and He will do it at a fixed appointed time. Paul said to the Galatians, But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law. Solomon said, There is an appointed time for everything. Daniel said more than once, God will bring things to a conclusion at the “appointed time.” Jesus verified this in Mark 13:33, “Watch out, stay alert; for you do not know when the appointed time is. God has a plan and He is working the plan. He will overcome evil with good in human history and He does it via a process. I know that we are longing for the performance and it will come at the appointed time. Faith punches a hole in the clouds of doubt and darkness; through that hole, the Light breaks through and we get a glimpse of the Son. Remember Mary, she was blessed {happy} because she fully believed that God would do what He promised. Mary believed and was blessed; oh that we would follow her example.

We haven’t got a rain yet and my sweet potatoes need one desperately. Big Mama’s dog Dixie loves to dig up plants. She has already harvested a third of my sweet potatoes. The only reason I am letting her hang around is to keep the coons out of our corn. I know what your thinking: Big Mama is the reason she gets to hang around. Your wrong; she bit Big Mama a week or two ago. She broke skin and almost bone. If she does it again, coon or no coon, she is out of here.

Joe David gave me a book a couple of weeks ago, WHAT EVERY CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE. It explains everything that is going on. I have ordered 10 copies for my folks at the POINT and as soon as they read it, I will share them with you. I will try to share a little in the blogs. I will share one thought today.

I’ve always taught that there are THREE INSTITUTIONS OF AUTHORITY…Family, Government and Church but Jeff Johnson mentions four: [1] The Dignity of Man and the Sanctity of Life [Adam was created to have dominion and to rule]. Every person has inalienable rights such as life and liberty. Rights do not come from government, they come from God. [2] The family which is inaugurated by marriage of a man and a woman. [3] The Government who primary purpose is to serve man and protect the law abiders from the law breakers. [4] The Church which is the conscience of society, the salt that preserves God’s righteousness on earth. The Cultural {Social} Marxism that we face today is attacking all four and their goal is to destroy them. They began with the sanctity of life and the family. This all out assault began in the middle of the last century. Evolution and abortion are key elements to their campaign. They have taken the right of parents to educate their children and what we are seeing now is not education but indoctrination.
