Scripture
“Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.”
~Luke 12:43, NASB
Quote
Are you disappointed with society? Are you really concerned about what is going on? Take the first step: look at yourself–What can you do to make things better?
~Billy Graham {Day by Day, p. 161}
The chief characteristic of irresponsibility is excuse making and blaming others. We have all meet them or tried to work with them; they always have an excuse or an alibi. I have zero tolerance for these people. I’m not talking about young people; some of them will grow up and learn to be responsible; I am talking about adults, some my age and older. Nothing and I repeat “NOTHING” is ever their fault. I was talking to a friend last week and in my feeble way, I was trying to encourage him. I told him I had seen spiritual growth in his life. He said, “I don’t know preacher, I think my chickens have come home to roost.” Folks, that is the kind of man I can admire. When I hear people blaming everyone else, my respect meter drops drastically.
That is a lengthly intoduction to my subject of SLAVERY but I am sick and tired of hearing people whine about slavery when they know absolutely nothing about it. There isn’t one person in this country that was a slave in the home of some rich yankee or in the fields of some southern planter. Institutional slavey was 150 plus years ago. Get over it and stop making excuses by blaming others for your incompetence and irresponsibility.
First of all, slavery is alive and well and if people really care about stopping slavery, why don’t they get involved in fighting the current problem, because there are more slaves today than ever before in human history. Read Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s book Gulag Archipelago. A gulag is a prison camp; an archipelago is a string of islands so tiny that they don’t show up on a map. The Soviet Union used slave labor for 70 years. Visit North Korea and see how much freedom they have or try Red China who floods our markets with items so cheap that we can’t compete because they a manifactured in prison camps. These people who carry on about slavery don’t hate slavery; most of them hate work.
One of the biggest problems in the world is human trafficking and the U.S. is involved. Where is the moral outcry concerning children that are victims of the child/slave sex trafficking market. Have you heard this on network news? No and you will not. The media and this bunch of protesters are hypocrites. Instead of fighting slavery, they promote it.
Slavery is not always bad; matter of fact it can be either good or bad. Jesus said, I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. {John 8:34}. Being a slave to sin is bad, but He also said, Whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. {Mark 10:44} This means serving others and putting their interest before our own. Paul said, “You can be a slave to sin which leads to death or you can be a slave to Christ which leads to life.” If you have a Master who loves you infinitely, slavery is not bad. If you could put Jesus in the White House and make Him king, wouldn’t you do it? I would in a heartbeat. He is a good, good Master.
