Stand Your Ground

Scripture

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

~Ephesians 6:10-11, NLT

The devil is absolutely malicious and purely evil.

~Billy Graham {Wisdom For Today, p.312}

The devil is real and I do not underestimate his power and influence. Jesus referred to him three times as the prince of this world {John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11}. He is the orchestrator of all evil. He is behind every lie and every murder. Peter says he prowls about like a lion, seeking someone to devour. He is malicious, hateful, cunning, subtle, malevolent, and cruel. He shows no mercy and has no compassion. He is determined and relentless in his attacks. He never lets up or takes a holiday. Above all he is a clever schemer and a convincing liar. He cannot be trusted. He is more intelligent than we are, more powerful than we are, but this does not mean we are at his mercy? No, not is the least, we have Jesus to rely on. Now, without Jesus, we would be sitting ducks. Jesus taught us that there is only one way to overcome him–our firm reliance on the word of God. Satan does not want to hear the word of God; nor does he want to hear Jesus exhalted. Satan’s main problem, in my humble opinion, is that he wants to be Jesus. He wants to be the only begotten. He wants the glory Jesus gets. This is why praise is so important to worship, it causes Satan to flee. Satan’s envy of Jesus has turned to pure hate.\ and he cannot stand to hear Jesus praised.

Paul understood how real this struggle with Satan is and that is why he challenged the Ephesian believers to put on the whole armor of God. Satan is real and he will shot those flaming arrows of doubt and fear into our minds and hearts. Satan is a tormentor and a terriorist and he will make your life miserable. He spends very little time with unbelievers. He doesn’t have to worry about them because they are walking in darkness. He persecuted Jesus, Paul, Peter and all the saints. He is out to destroy your confidence, your faith, your testimony and your legacy. He can also destroy you joy and disturb your peace. So watch out, beware, put on the armor and stand your ground. He doesn’t like the truth, the word of God, the gospel and he hates when you pray. So don’t let him get you down which is exactly what will happen if you don’t stay in the word and pray.
