The Beattitudes of Proverbs

Scripture

Happy is a man who finds wisdom, and who acquires understanding.

~Proverbs 3:13, CSB

Quote

The Proverbs are like hard candy: if you bite down hard, you might break a tooth, but if you savor them your spiritual taste buds will take delight.

~Ya’akov

The hard candy analogy came from a woke author but the quote is mine. I don’t normally read anything written by the woke and this guy was a disciple of Liberation Theology in his younger days. I hate to admit it, he had keen insight into scripture. I read three of his books before I found out his was woke, and none since. He actually had nothing to do with today’s thought–The Beattitudes of Proverbs. I stumbled on to them while studying for my Wednesday night series. I am amazed: their are eight beattitudes in Proverbs.

  • Happy is the man who finds wisdom–3:13
  • Happy is the man who keeps my way–8:32
  • Happy is the man who listens to me–8:34
  • Happy are those who show kindness–14:21
  • Happy are the ones who trust in the LORD–16:20
  • Happy are the children of those who have integrity–20:7
  • Happy is the one who is always reverent–28:14
  • Happy is the one who follows divine instruction–29:18

Is this not amazing or what! I stand amazed at the wonder of God’s word. Eight beattitudes in the sermon on the mount and eight in the book of Proverbs. The bible is an incredible book.

Extra

The last time I blogged, we had no rain, but late Friday evening as I was mulching leaves it started. All total here in Rocky Fords, I think we got over 6 inches of mercy from above but to our west they got more. Some parts of Lawrence got over 10 inches. We needed every drop. The eastern side did not get as much but they got close to 3 inches which will help. The main system sat over us for the entire night. Thank You Jesus for the rain.

June and I experienced something incredible to us last night. Joe David is having a Super September and last night he had Michael Addler and Dusty MacLemore. I have never seen anything like it. You may want to go on line and watch it. Go to YouTube and type in Danville Baptist Church. Of course these things are not as good recored as live. He used our band and they were phenomenal.  As Ken Nelson would say, “We were blessed by the Best.

East side REVIVAL is set: November 3 host is Mount Zion and Michael Mason is the preacher. November 10 Grace Point is the host and Dr. Spencer Bell the preacher and then on November 17 New Center is the host and Rich Freeman is the preacher.

We used our new fellowship hall for Joyce Dotson’s 80th birthday party yesterday and it was great. Joyce’s birthday is actually tomorrow.

I hope you have a good week and thanks for reading the blog.
