The Law Of The Harvest

Scripture

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

~2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV

Quote

Those who have learned to give are always receiving and have always more to give.

~Watchman Nee

I am reluctant to say much: you never know what a day will bring, and I do not want to spoil a good thing: June and I are always receiving things from others. People are good to us. Those who know me will not believe what I am about to say, and it is a month before Christmas, but last year friends gave me over a thousand dollars. I don’t remember the exact amount but I don’t think it was more than $1500. I put it in my sock drawer. I usually spend it in a couple of months are give it away but this year I still have money in my sock drawer and I have been giving it away. Its kind of like the widow in Elijah’s day who didn’t run out of oil or flour. You have to understand, I am not a high roller. I don’t given large chunks. One of my sweet nieces saw me slip a $20 to a young man and she came over and hugged me. She said, “You remind me of my daddy {my brother}; he is always giving people money.” I said, “There is a huge difference, I give twenties and he gives hundreds.” I am not in his league yet but I do love to give and God is the one who makes this possible.

I give God the glory, but He uses people to help me. I started buying donuts for Grace Point my first year. I probably did it three or four years before various men in our bible study class started handing me $20 dollar bills and one give me $50. I think I have payed for the donuts only once in the last two years. It is people giving to me that enables me to give to others. The second revival that Junior Hill preached for me was in Cherokee. He told my congregation, “Your pastor is so poor, he couldn’t buy you a cup of coffee.” Junior may have been joking, but he was telling the truth. I think he was hinting to them to pay me more but they didn’t get the hint. I visited hospitals as far as Birmingham without a cent to my name. I couldn’t even stop and buy a coke. When I think of how God has blessed us, how can I do anything less than thank HIM and praise HIM.

You do not have to be rich to give but if you give in Jesus name you will become rich.

My goal is to visit the hospital every two days. Sunday morning early is definitely the best time to go to Huntsville. Christy did not feel good yesterday at all, I have been praying for a better day. Keep Christy on the top of your prayer list.

We had a good crowd yesterday and another good service. In spite of all that is going on, counting my blessings amazes me. We got to attend the Luke 14 Banquet at DBC last night. I would guess between 250-300 in attendance. The food and fellowship was great. I think the Luke 14 Banquet got started in 1987 or 1988. I know it was the late 80’s. Our first guest was the Boy’s Ranch and the Children’s Home. John Harold was going to take our van and pick up one load at the childrens home. It would not crank so we used starting fluid. In those days the engine was inside the van, when we turned the key, it blew fire out of the carburetor, I think Johnny ran in an got a fire extinguisher. The old trio was there last night: the front line of one of the great Basketball teams in church league history: Dr. J, John Harold and Adrian Dantly. It was a great reunion.

Had to believe this is TG week and I am tickled because all meetings have been canceled. As far as I know, no meeting this week! I do have a major project and I may get started today. Half the job is rounding up tools and materials.

Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
