Scripture
Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
~Colossians 1:12, NASB
Quote
When we want to be something other than what God intends us to be, we must be wanting what, in fact, will not make us happy.
~C.S. Lewis {Problem of Pain, p.52}
I was cleaning my office last Saturday and I saw some scratch notes and I started to throw them in the trash, but then I decided to read them first. They came from Martyn Lloyd Jones and his book on Spiritual Depression, which I have been reading for a year. I am a slow reader. I thought they were too good to throw in the trash.
These are Jones’ five traits of a Saint:
- They have a growing sense of wretchedness: no matter how well they live or how much good they do, they feel the burden of their own sins.
- They know and affirm that it is God’s grace that has made them what they are. They understand there is no room for pride or boasting.
- They feel no enimity toward God. They have no desire to rebel.
- They are filled with a profound sense of gratitude.
- They love Jesus and people.
Have you ever noticed the second verse of STANDING ON THE PROMISES:
Standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
What about the second verse of HIGHER GROUND?
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
What about A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD?
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.
We are in a war folks; don’t let the devil get you down. The word of God is the key {Promise}. Promise was the key that set Christian free from dungeon of despair in DOUBTING CASTLE. Thank You Father for the WORD, written and incarnate.

PTL we finished our BIBLE TRANSLATION project yesterday and I am thrilled. I get to turn our boards in today. Hallelujah! Busy week with Pastor’s conference at Grace Point this morning. We will be feeding the preachers today and then Friday the 49ers. Next week we will have the jambalaya supper on Wednesday night trunk-a-treat on Thursday.
I love October but I wish it would rain. October’s are normally dry but this is the worse that I remember. The all night prayer meeting is November 4 from 6:00 to midnight. Praying for Revival and Election. May God help us. He is our only hope. Some powerful people control the apparatus and they will cheat and again, cheating will be necessary. We can’t stop them but the LORD can.
Have a great day and week.
