True Brotherhood

Scripture

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

~Genesis 2:18, NIV

Quote

The human soul is lonely; it must have companionship.

~William Franklin Graham

I love reading devotionals. Billy Graham wrote one in 1965 that Franklin had reprinted for his Dad’s 100th birthday. As you recall, Dr. Graham was promoted in the middle of his 99th year. This entry is so good, I am typing it word for word. It comes from page 158 of DAY BY DAY with Billy Graham. I found this devotional on a free book table.

Left entirely to himself, man cannot enjoy anything. God said in the very beginning, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” The creation of Eve was the beginning of human companionship. God’s people are a body, not intended to function separately, not intended to be unconcerned for one another. The only true body in the world is the CHURCH. The world may talk grandly of brotherhood, but in reality its philosophy is “every man for himself” {Dog eat dog}. God’s children are promised the richest and truest friendship, both here and hereafter. Only is true friendship and love do we find the basis for peace. Only Christ can break down the walls that divide us. Only Christ can supply that love that we must have for our fellowman. We will never build the brotherhood of man on this earth until we are believers in Jesus Christ. The only true cohesive power in the world is Christ. He alone can bind human hearts together in genuine love.

Folks, there is a lot of truth in the words above. Read it again and meditate on it. Only Jesus will bring the peace and unity that the world talks about. They are convinced they can make it happen apart from Jesus, but this is a lie out of hell, and you and I know it will not happen apart from Jesus. There will be no peace without the Prince of Peace.

September is going fast. We had bright warm sunlight yesterday but a gentle breeze. Jackson and I sat outside in the swing for about an hour, it felt good.

It’s Friday folks, time to get a little skip in your step. I hope you have a good day and a great weekend.
