I cease to be amazed by the depth of scripture. I don’t know how many times I have read the Proverbs but when Cahn quoted this passage in chapter four, it was if I had never read it. Actually, the entire passage reads like this… Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. Try walking backwards. It is not a pleasant experience because we do not have eyes in the back of our head and when we walk backwards, it creates an extra tension and we are very prone to stumble and even fall. Before I became a Senior Adult, another Senior Adult told me…“I always try to park in a parking place that I can get out of by going forward. I do my best to stay out of backing situations.”  Now that I am a senior, I follow that advice. Backing is an adventure for a Senior Adult.

One of the key aspects of the Christian life is to maintain proper focus. We are not to look back. We have to resist the temptation of live in the past or to mull over our mistakes. We must keep our focus on Christ and our high calling. Paul said to the Philippians, I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Paul never got side tracked because he keep his eyes focused on what was ahead. Folks, I have no desire to go back. The last thing I want to do is relive the stupid mistakes I have made. I am looking forward to that glorious time when all of creation gives God praise and every knee bows to the Lord Jesus. 

Mylee is running cross country and I try to run with her as much as I can and that is not much. I constantly remind her of the finish line. Long distance runners have to keep the end in mind. You think about that finish line and all the rewards that lie on the other side. Trust me, you get excited once you see that finish line. For most of the race, you have to see it in your mind but when you turn into the arena and make that final lap, you can see it with your eyes and the celebration begins in your heart.

The Our Daily Bread devotional quoted Richard Foster on October 19. Foster is woke. I enjoyed reading Foster until I found out that he had gotten sucked into the SOCIAL JUSTICE movement. Some of you probably think that I over react but I agree with Voddie Baucham, no Christian should ever use the term “Social Justice.” It is actually code for marxism. It is not scriptural. There is only one justice in the Bible and that is God’s justice and it is founded and established on His Truth. It is hard to believe, but many Southern Baptist have been sucked into the “woke” movement. Like those who crucified Jesus, they do not know what they are doing.

Someone texted me and asks me to check out the devotions {ODB} for October 18-19. I see three problems: [1] The influence of the feminist movement; [2] the sublty of the woke movement. [like calvinist, they do not come right out and admit what they are] and [3] the bias of the North. Trust me, there are no southerners writing for ODB. The Northern bias goes something like this: The South is the bastion for racial oppression. Southerners are a bunch of uneducated rednecks who love Trump and hate blacks. Most of these condescending yankees have never lived in the South and they don’t know what they are talking about. They have been government educated and they watch too much TV. Racial tensions are far greater in the North than they are in the South. Just understand where the ODB writers are coming from. I’m not telling you not to read it but understand the three things above when you do. One little clue: when they over play racial oppression and underplay abortion, they are WOKE! When they say, “I am pro-life but…” they are woke. Remember this: the same group of Marxist who have conned the WOKE community are promoting the abortion of black babies.

I am give out today but I did get a lot of things checked off yesterday and I praise the LORD for giving me success. Fish fry tonight at 6:00 at the point. You are all invited.
