Scripture
“For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
~Revelation 6:17, LSB
Quote
Our wickedness makes us as it were heavy as lead, and to tend downwards with great weight and pressure towards hell; and if God should let us go, we would immediately sink and switfly
descend into the bottomless gulf.
~Jonathan Edwards
Hell is a subject that most of us try to avoid, but there is a lot of scripture dealing with God’s wrath and the place we call hell. God revealed Himself to Moses in Exodus 34 as a gracious, compassionate God, full of loving kindness and truth but not one to overlook sin. Above all other attributes, God is holy. Of this there is no doubt, He has to be holy. Within the nature of sin there is a seed of destruction. Given time, sin will destroy any and everything it touches. Surely you have lived long enough to understand that we humans are no match of sin. It is far too big for us to handle. It will enslave us and in time destroy us. Our only salvation from this dreadful monster is Jesus.
There are only two kinds of people on the planet, the repentant and the unrepentant. There are those who want to please God and there are those who do not. The wicked unrepentant are so into their rebellion against God that they are filled with hate and resentment. They go after anything that is God related: bible, church, biblical values, etc. Many of them are God-haters. Trust me folks, the Trump haters also hate Christ. At the current moment, they see themselves as viable opponents to the Kingdom of Christ, but they are decieving themselves. A day will come when that will pray for the mountains to fall on them rather than face Jesus. Notice the question John poses in Revelation 6:17, “Who will be able to stand?” The answer is no one: not the rich, not the powerful; and not the leaders of this world. I am telling you folks, the devil does not have a match for the LION of Judah. It will not be a struggle or even a contest. The wicked will grow weak; there will not be fighting, they will be running for cover.
Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb. {Revelation 6:15-16}
