Scripture
“Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?”
~Matthew 26:41, NKJV

Jesus was a Victor, not a victim.
~Ya’akov
I am reading J.I. Packer’s KNOWING GOD {daily devotion} and in his entry on page 52 he refers to Jesus as the Victim of Calvary. I hate to correct an older and wiser man but this is not an accurate statement. Jesus was not a victim. A victim has no power to defend it or himself. The little lambs that were offered as sacrifices were victims. The little babies who are aborted are victims, but Jesus was not helpless. He did make Himself helpless but that was by His choice. The fact that He could have avoided calvary or could have called for twelves legions of angels means that He was not a victim. He was a willing participant. To say that He was a victim would mean that He had no choice.
Folks I am fully convinced that Jesus intentionally made things easy for the Sadduccees and the Sanhedrin. He walked into Jerusalem of His own free will. He did not resist arrest and made no attempt to flee. When they could find no evidence, He helped them out by declaring His divinity. I am telling you, He was in full control every step of the way. The only power they had over Him is what He allowed them to have. I promise you, He could take one look at you and shut you down.
I love the old movie Ben Hur {played by Charlton Heston}. Ben was an aristocratic Jew and famous for his chariot racing {NASCAR of the day}. He was betrayed and arrested by the Romans. He was being transported to the coast where he would become a slave in the galley of a ship {oarsman}. On the way to the coast, his party {Soldiers and slaves} cross paths with the prophet from Galilee {Jesus}. The soldier in charge refuses to give Ben a drink of water and then the shadow of the man from Galilee appears. He does not speak one word: he simply looks at the cruel soldier who is taunting Hur. That soldier trembles and then stoops to give Ben Hur a drink. Isaish 40:24 comes to mind, “He can blow upon them with His breath and they will wither.” Yes, Jesus was a man, but He was also God and He never at anytime ceased to be God. Jesus was never a victim. He was always in control. He had the power to calm an angry sea and He could have struck Caiaphais and Pilot dead with just one look, thought or breath.
As soon as I wrote this blog; I opened my bible to Psalm 66 and this is what verse two says…How awesome are Your deeds! So great is Your power that Your enemies cringe before YOU! This is Jesus folks. His enemies will cringe before HIM. All will bow, but His enemies will cringe. He has never, at any point, been a victim.

Well folks, she is 1-800-COLD and I do hope today is the worst of it. One of the good things about winter, it soon will pass. We have a busy day today. Off to Madison in a few minutes. One of our great grandsons is having surgery today {minor, I hope} and then from there I will be going to Gadsden for Steve Bradley’s sister COLS. Josie has a soccer game this evening but I am not going out of protest. They do not need to play in weather this cold.
I hope you have a good day and you can take consolation in the fact that it is Friday and Sunday is coming with a heat wave {53 degrees}. Thanks for reading the blog.
