Scripture
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
~Romans 5:9, NASB
Quote
“Although my memory’s fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.”
~John Newton
We are surrounded by “Seeker” churches. These churches and pulpits do not condemn sin of any sort. They are politically correct. They do not get into controversial subjects and there is no moral outcry over evils like abortion. Their goal in to make you feel welcome and good. They intend to put you on an emotional high. No guts or gore. No bloody sacrifice. It is a Christianity without a cross and it attracts millions. Who doesn’t want to come home from church feeling good about themselves. It sounds good but I do see some problems.
The first major problem that I see is the failure to acknowledge sin. What does the bible have to say about sin? To put it in a nutshell, sin is rebellion against God. It is always wrong, always offensive to His holiness and it always has consequences. The bible also makes it crystal clear that we have all sinned and come far short of the perfection we see in Christ. You might be willing to measure yourself by your neighbor. but who in their right mind wants to be compared to Jesus? Our first failure is to admit that we are guilty and deserve hell. The second problem is coming up with a solution to the sin problem. To make a long story short; humans don’t have a solution to the problem. Good government and law and order curb the excesses, but they do not solve the sin problem. Education and social reform will not fix the sin problem either. So that brings us to the last problem: acknowledging that we need help, or that we need a Savior.
I meet very few sinners these days. It is rare for a person to acknowledge their sin and guilt. People have their own way of dealing with sin and the primary way is to deny that it is a problem. People are looking for excuses, alibis, and some way to justify their actions, but they are not looking for a Savior. I find this very sad, very sad indeed!

PTL for a good day yesterday. I got to plow the garden and do a few more things that needed doing, but of course I ran out of time and energy with a lot left on my to-do list. I have a mini-truck for sale if anyone is interested. If you are 6 feet tall or above, you don’t want it. It is a handy thing to have but it is too hard for me to get in and out of it.
Jury is still out on my schedule today. I think I am still recovering from Monday. We are getting close to the end of our study in PROVERBS: tonight we will be talking about POPULAR SINS, then next Wednesday we will finish up.
Continue to pray for our sick. I texted Joyce yesterday but her phone must be off; she didn’t respond. Christy is having a hard week. Lincoln was still in a lot of pain yesterday. I am praying he will be better today. The epidural went to the wrong side. People are asking about the Guatemala trip and it is full. So far we have had no cancellations. I think DBC makes another trip in the fall. We can try to get you in on that one.

Josh is an Auburn graduate and Lincoln’s dad Eric is a graduate of Tennessee. I actually attended UCLA and Athens College but have been an Alabama fan my entire life. The three don’t normally mix but Christ overcomes the barriers that divide us…PTL. Lincoln is a huge fan of Tennessee fan. His mom is an Auburn graduate.
