The Living Water

Scripture

They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.

~Psalm 36:8-9, NIV

Jesus never comes next: He is always first.

I learn something new practically every day. Jesus talked about the living water in John four and I assumed he was merely speaking of Himself and He was, but there is more to it than meets the eye. The LORD said through Jeremiah the prophet, For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water. There is a huge difference between a cistern and a spring. The cistern is a resourvior for rain water but when water stands still, it tends to stagnate. Moving water is more pure. When I was a boy, I drank from the creek behind our house many times but not down stream from the herd. Water trickling over gravel is crystal clear.  I never drank from a pond. Both Abraham and Isaac were well diggers. In Genesis 29:19 {Geneva Bible} it reads, Isaac’s servants then dug in the valley and found there a well of living water. What made this well different from the other wells Isaac dug? They hit an underground stream of moving water.

I am like the woman at the well, “Give me that Living Water.” You can drink out of a man made cistern or a pond if you want to, but I want pure, fresh, soul saving Living Water.

We got another rain. The corn looks great. The tomatoes are growing but not as healthy as I would like. Our okra may not make it. We got our coon fence up just before dark last night. We will see if it works. I have my doubts.

Please pray for Christy and Charity Clark. They are not related blood wise but are related: both are battling cancer. Christy had a hard week. I pray for both many times a day. I don’t need reminders, both are on my heart.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
