No Condemnation

Scripture

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

~Romans 8:1, NASB

Quote

As Judge, Christ is the law, but as Savior, He is the gospel. Call on the coming Judge to be your present Savior.

~J.I. Packer

I just finished a two part series on the French Revolution and it was nothing like the American Revolution because a Jacobin {Communist} named Maximillian Robespierre was the mastermind of the revolution and he promoted violence and terror. People lived in fear not knowing who would be executed next. Thank God for the freedom and the stability of the Republic our forefathers gave us. We are blessed more than we can imagine.

Even though I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ and firmly convinced that He is the only way to the Father, I sometimes worry about Judgment. I live under His all seeing eye and He knows all my secrets. What if He exposes me before all creation. Augustus Toplady believed in pure grace. He believed that in Christ we are covered and there will be no condemnation. I don’t think there is any question about stewardship. We will be graded on our stewardship but I am speaking now of sin and what it deserves which is death and hell. Toplady wrote the old hymn Rock of Ages and the last verse goes like this…

While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see Thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in Thee.

What is greater; our sin or His saving grace? This is good news for those of us who know we are not fit to stand before the Judge of the ages.

For History Buffs

Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre was a snake in the grass. Pretending to be a friend of the poor and underprivileged, and squeaky clean {without corruption}, he was Jacobin {Communist before they were known as communist}. He believed in revolution, violence and terror. He was a screwd politician who kept his agenda hidden from the public eye. He was responsible for hundreds if not thousands of deaths. He got caught in the reign of terror and himself was executed on the guillotine.

There is a huge difference between the American Revolution and the French Revolution. In spite of what the liberal teach, our founding fathers never abandoned faith and traditional values. The Enlightenment likes to take credit for both revolutions but although our founders were familiar with the enlightenment, they refused to throw the baby out with the bath water. Individual freedom and civil rights were a big part of our fight for freedom but our forefathers had a great fear of anarchy. They knew that the worst government is no govenment. By the way, the Jacobins worked feverishly in France to destroy law and order. They used mobs and riots to accomplish their diabolical goals. As it is all communist revolutions, it gets ugly and the end is worse than the beginning. Louis XVI was a much better ruler than Robespierre. The French revolution also created a political vacuum and ten years later Napoleon Bonaparte became first their hero, and then their Emperor. King or Emperor, not a lot of difference. The one thing the French never got was a Republic. We did, if we can keep it. The Jacobins are alive and well and for the past two decades have tried to destroy law and order. Pray to God that they remain unsuccessful.
