Scripture
Rehoboam loved Maacah more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and they gave birth to twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

We have a tradition called Sunday dinner. For years the kids and grandkids came to our house for Sunday dinner: now we rotate with the girls hosting most of the time, but we still have lunch together every Sunday. This got started years ago when I refused to go to a restaurant on Sunday. They are too crowded and you have to wait to long. I would rather go home, get a tomato sandwich and rest. We have anywhere from 15-30 at Sunday dinner. We never know exactly how many will show up. I love it and look forward to each week. We do have a couple of noise makers, but all in all it is worth it.
Rehoboam wasn’t much of a king. One reason may have been that he had no time. He had 18 wives and 60 concubines so you may as well say he had 78 wives. Unlike his father, he spent time with his wives because he fathered 28 boys and 60 girls. All total there were 166 at Sunday dinner. Of course he inherited millions so he could afford it. With a family like that, you could start your own church. All jokes aside, we are blessed and our prayer is that this tradition will go on as long as we are on this earth. Family is a blessing that we should be thankful for and we should make spending time with our family a priority.

My internet was down this am and I didn’t know it. When we rebooted, we lost several blogs including todays. I have not been able to recover it so I posted an old draft that was never published. I wrote three or four last week and they are all gone and one was on the distinctive difference between male and female. Maybe this is the LORD’s way of showing me that He didn’t want them published.
- Jo Ballinger is in Huntsville Hospital room 432…Hope to get there today sometime.
- We exceeded our LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING goal the first day. Our goal was 2,500 and we received $3,163.87 in our first offering. So we are changing our goal to $5,000.00
- The Bobby Vest COLS went well and DBC did a fantastic job feeding the family. I was tired and didn’t stay for the meal but they had enough to feed an army. Mandy and crew get an A+.
- We made some changes after talking and praying with the deacons yesterday morning: the CHRISTMAS EVE communion is at 5:00 instead of 4:00 and we are not meeting at all on December 31, New Year’s Eve.
- Emma Sanders is our Guatemala Team leader, PTL. I will get her networks with Joe David and Josh. Anyone from GP who wants to go, see Emma.
Headed to see Doc Holladay in Cullman at 7:00, then hopefully to HH to check on Jo. I have the best dentist in the world. She can give you those novicane shoots and you barely feel anything. Plus she has a sense of humor. She is her daddy made over and both are a hoot.
One short story: Doc and her crew moved to a new building in Cullman and we were given bad info plus the place does not have a sign. I was going to get my teeth cleaned last week and drove around in the rain looking for the place. After four stops, I finally found it. No sign, but I stuck my head in the door and could see Doc through the receptionist window. Or course I said rather loudly, “Great job on the sign, how do you folks expect people to find you?” She laughed and said, “They will get you back soon brother Jack.” When I got to my room and Doc came in, I apologized. She said, “No problem, I had prepared them for you.”
