Scripture
The Lord is my light and my salvation.
~Psalm 27:1, NIV
Quote
Darkness is the absence of light. Where light is, darkness cannot exist.
~Gerald H. Wilson
I don’t think anyone will take issue with today’s quote: it is a scientific fact that light dispels darkness. Light is a substance; darkness has no substance. A lot of people are afraid of the dark. Now there is a darkness above ground that is not totally dark. To experience total darkness, you have to go to Grant and go a half mile into that mammoth cave. When the guide cuts the lights off: you will experience total darkness and it is unnerving. I don’t like it. When the tornadoes came through in April of 2011, this side of the county was in darkness and so was a lot of Limestone County. Seth and I had to drive half way to Clements to find a gas station that was open and then we had to wait in line and hope that they didn’t run out. I had a generator but very little gas. The drive through Decatur with no lights {not even traffic lights} was spooky.
From 1980-1989 there was a comic strip in some papers {none locally that I know of} named BLOOM COUNTY. In this comic strip, one of the children had a closet where all his anxieties lived in the dark. The kid was terrified that they would break out and consume him. If he worked up the courage to open the door, he quickly turned on the light in the closet. The light would dispel all the anxieites in a flash. Jesus is the light. His presence can dispel the darkness and the doubt. In Psalm 27 David is battling a “confidence” issue. He is speaking to himself as well as God. He says, “The LORD is my light,” what have I to fear.” Though I am attacked, David said, “I will not fear…I will be confident.” Does this mean David had no fears? No, it means he was battling his fear and he found confidence in his faith. The LORD was his light and salvation.
You can buy a flashlight almost anywhere but you cannot find a flashdark. Such a thing does not exist. Darkness has no power to dispel light or more darkness.

PTL all our folks made it home safely. I don’t think Jackson wanted to come home: he loves the beach. He has a double portion: mine and his. I had rather have Doc Holladay do another root canal as to go to the beach for a week. You think I am kidding, but I am not. Time stands still at the beach.
When it rains, it pours. Joe David stays on the road visiting hospitals. Mickey Hembree is in HH with pancreatitis, Billy Parker is there with heart issues. Dot Burgess is still in DMH. Don’t forget our cancer warriors. Most of them had a hard week. Pray for the Clark girls: Christy and Charity.
I hope to be able to get in the garden today. Our corn is earing up: got to get my coon fence up this week. Have a good Monday. The best way to have a good Monday is to retire. For retired folks, everyday is Friday except Sunday. Have a great week.
Three our of Four Great Grand Sons at the beach: Titan didn’t get to go.
