Scripture
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.
~Isaiah 40:28, NASB
Quote
In worldly terms, might makes right, but on God’s terms right makes might.
~J. Clinton McCann
When the Puritan theologians dealt with the attributes of God, they classified them into one of two groups: the incommunicable and communicable. In some ways, we can be like God {communicable} but in others we cannot. God is transcendent. This means He is self-existent and lives above, outside, and separate from His creation. He is immutable which means He never changes. He is omnipotent which means He is almighty, or in other words, He has all power. He is infinite, He knows no bounds or limits. He is not bound by space or time. He is clear in His intelligence. He is never conflicted in mind or person. He cannot be torn in two different directions by divergent or conflicting thoughts or emotions.
We can bear the image of God the Father in some respects but we can never be God. We can be like Jesus, but we can never be Jesus. There is a distinct difference. There are some things, qualities, attributes that He has that we will never have. Diety for one. God is not dependent on us but we are dependent on Him and this will not change. Even when He brings us to a state of perfection, He will remain God and we will be His creatures dependent on Him and bowing before Him. Humans, just because they are merely human, cannot share all of God attributes.
I like that last line in Isaiah 40:28, “His understanding is inscrutable.”
- NKJV–His understanding is unsearchable.
- NIV–His understanding no one can fathom {measure}.
- CSB–No limit to his understanding.
- Moffatt–His insight is unsearchable.
- NET–No limit to His wisdom.
As Isaiah says in chapter 55, “His thoughts are above ours and so are His ways.” You can’t figure Him out so as Jack Taylor said, “Just faith Him out.” Our response to His infinite greatest should be awe and worship.

Another Friday, last day of VBS for DBC and almost the middle of June. It is hard to believe that in 17 more days, this year will be half gone. It clouded up on us yesterday but we missed the rain. We are hurting. Part of the garden is still muddy.
Pray for our cancer warriors. Pray for the Clark girls: Christy and Charity. Pray also for Lincoln who’s next surgery is scheduled for July 21. It will be left hip this time. Well, I am not sure it is the left but it is one they didn’t do last time.
Have a great day. Thanks for reading the blog.
