Exploitation

Scripture

They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on God. But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread.

~Psalm 53:4-5, NIV

The righteous know that were not for the gracious mercy of God, their end would be the same as the wicked.

Psalm 53 begins with…The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” One of the chief characteristics of the wicked is their exploitation of others. They take advantage of others to advance themselves. They consume people as though they are eating bread. The transmission in our Colorado went to slipping a year or so ago. I carried it to the dealer; they said there is nothing wrong with the transmission {truck was still under warranty}. Of course it kept getting worse until I had problems going up a steep grade. I carried it back and they said the transmission is bad, you will have to have it rebuilt at a cost of $6,500.00. I told them about bringing the truck while it was under warranty but they refused to do anything about it. June was not satisfied with this and she began calling GM headquarters and she kept calling. I was thinking about parking it is the front yard and covering it with lemons, but she didn’t let up and they called Lynn Layton. Long story short, we got the transmission rebuilt at Lynn Layton with GM covering the parts. Lynn Layton did get $1,700.00 out of us for labor but that beats $6,500.00. You cannot trust car dealerships. They are in the business of exploitation.

There will be a judgment for all forms of exploitation but the unbelieving wicked are not afraid of this judgment. As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 8:11, Because God does not punish sinners instantly, people feel it is safe to do wrong. This brings us back to today’s verse, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. The NASB helped me make sense of this verse...There they were in great fear where no fear had been. Right now the exploiters, such as the elites in DC and NY city, are totally unafraid of God’s judgment, but as the NET reads, “they will be [future] terrified over what they had never feared.” We use things and love people, not vice versa. Those who use others to advance themselves will be judged. The Marxist in China are using slave labor: they will be judged. The democrats us minorities and disenfranchised groups. They prey on the weak and ignorant but they will be judged. Do you really think that the Sadduccees in New York City love black people or hispanics? They don’t love anyone other than themselves. They consume people like bread in order to enrich themselves with greater wealth and more power. Judgment is coming and when it arrives, they will experience a terror they have never known before.

Extra

Do you realize that today marks the end of the first semester of 2025-unbelievable how fast this year has zoomed by. God is merciful; he allows us to deliver two more messages yesterday. All our grandchildren were at worship last night except three. We are expecting our 5th great grand child Wednesday somewhere around noon. Caroline June Langston. I did dream about grand children but never imagined I would live to see so many greats.

We preached about storms yesterday and we have a lot of folks in the midst of a horrific storm: let us remember them in our prayers. God bless you! Have a great week and thanks for reading the blog.

GRACE POINT family–no service this Wednesday night
