Scripture
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
~1 John 2:15, NIV
Quote
“Prosperity knits a man to the world. He feels that he is finding his place in it, while really it is finding its place in him.”
Most of you don’t remember the mock preacher Bro. Dave Gardener. He was a comedian who said, “Money isn’t everything, but it is way ahead of whatever is in second.” Bro. Dave was unorthodox: he may have been funny but he was dead wrong. Money can buy you influence. It can get you on a board of directors. It can even get you a political office. It most certainly can get you a wife but it can’t buy you a life. There are a lot of things that money cannot buy like: happiness, holiness and heaven. It cannot buy love, honor or character. It cannot buy forgiveness which we all desperately need. Very few people are willing to accept the truth that money cannot be kept. It very volatile; it can disappear quickly. Don’t put your trust in money, it has no eternal value.
Way back in 1923, there was a meeting in Chicago, Illinois [Edgewater Beach Hotel]. It was a group successful American financiers. They were bank presidents, CEOs, cabinet members, Wall Street brokers, etc. All highly successful; all controlling vast amounts of capital. Just one quarter of a century later, Charles Schwab died bankrupt. Samuel Insull died a fugitive from justice. Howard Hopson went insane. Arthur Cotton died insolvent. Richard Whitney has just finished a prison sentence. Albert Fall was given a pass so he could go home from prison to die. Two others committed suicide and one was a swindler and a forger.
How wealthy will you be twenty-five years from now?
The greedy banker Mr. Potter in ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE. I saw this at Dollywood in 2011 I think.

Correction of the Gideon Offering last Sunday: it was $2,000 not $1,415.00. Wonderful! Marvelous! Good job GP! It seems like there is something else I need to share but can’t remember what it is: maybe it will come to me later. Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
