Scripture
You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
~Psalm 4:7, NLT
Quote
LORD, let us have Your favor {grace} and let us know that we have it, and that we desire no more; that your favor be enough to make us happy.
~Matthew Henry
Nothing can sever our relationship with Jesus. We are recepients of God’s amazing grace and our salvation stands on the atonement of Christ. This is the source of our joy and happiness. David lived in the same world that you and I live in; a pagan world that demands a god it can see. A world that rejects faith. It is a world in hot pursuit of vanity and a world of falsehood and deception. The joy we seek, we cannot get from this world; nor can we get it from our success or accomplishments. The one thing that can give us constant joy is to know that we are in God’s favor.
Jesus sent His disciples out in teams. He gave them authority to heal sickness and to cast out demons. When they reported back to Jesus, they were elated that they had successfully cast out demons. Jesus told them,“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” In this world, we are going to have good days and bad days. C.S. Lewis called it the Undulations of Life, the ups and downs. Our one constant in this ever changing world is our unchanging Savior and our relationship to Him. He is the Rock that we stand on.
Reminds me of the little chorus…
Praise the Lord, Hallelu
I don’t care what the devil’s gonna do The Word in faith is my sword and shield And Jesus is Lord of the way I feel.Extra
PTL Jan Fields is home after two months in hospital. David Orr had foot surgery yesterday and he is back home. Charity has not had a good week; please focus on she and Josh. They have gotten no good news lately. Praise the LORD for the cool nights and there is a slight chance for rain Sunday and we need the rain. The dust is bad. There are a lot of hurting people out there: ask the LORD to guide you to one of them today so you can help.
October is doing exactly what I expected–it is flying by at record speed. DBC popular Trunk-a-Treat is October 26 and there is nothing like it in the area. They will have between over a thousand people and I think they have gotten as high as 1,700. You have to see it to believe it. Two incredible things happen each year in Danville: the Homecoming Parade and Trunk-a-Theat. Our 49er luncheon is Friday October 24 which is exactly one week from today. Our BILL SMITH jambalaya supper is October 29 at 6:00. You sure don’t want to miss Pat’s jambalaya. The best in the country. Looking ahead, our Christmas supper at the POINT is December 17. Doug is putting together a brief program which will begin at 5:30 and supper will be at 6:00.
Our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering begins November 2 and our goal is 2,500.00.
Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
