Rejuvenating, Relaxing, Refreshing…

Scripture

I will cause rain to come down in due season.

~Ezekiel 34:26, Geneva Bible

Quote

“The Word of God is like a shower which falls softly on the earth. It enters the soul without violence, and it brings life.”

~Charles Spurgeon

Rejuvenating, Relaxing, Refreshing; these are words that come to mind when I think of rain. You have to admit that I have done better in 2025 when it comes to crying for rain. I imagine you are thinking, “Yeah, because we have had no long dry spells.” You are probably be right. That rain that the east side got a couple of weeks ago, we didn’t get. Yeah, it was cloudy and a mist was falling but it was not rain and we are dry as a bone. No grass cutting this week: not even the ditches. I am not going to cut dry grass. It is not going to grow and I don’t want to fight the dust.

How good are weather apps? J.D. says they have six or seven models and one app will say one thing and another will say something else. My app and June’s never agree. She told me Thursday morning around 4:25 {Breakfast}, “There is a 50% chance of rain today.” Of course, my heart skipped a beat and I got excited. Then she came to my office a couple of hours later and said, “Sorry, they have changed the forecast, no rain for North Alabama.” I didn’t cuss or fuss but I was deeply disappointed. One of the Deacons at Danville has always told me, “Bro. Jack, there is no need for you to worry about the rain. The LORD will send it when He is ready.” I do understand he is correct but dry weather lowers my spirit.

I will say this, I am going to love it when it does rain. If Fred Astaire could sing in the rain, I can worship in it. He [God] will cause the rain to come down in due season, PTL!

The LORD answers prayer: we got a little shower last night. It was enough to settle the dust and tack the leaves down. It was very pleasant walking to the office this morning. I was up late last night. Didn’t go to bed till almost 10:00 so I slept late. I will be at Doctor’s office most of the day. The laser procedure on my eye is at 11:00 and then I see a doctor in Cullman at 3:30.

Pray for my good friend Jan Fields. She is in Brookwood in Birmingham with Guillian-Barre. Bobby Smith’s oldest dauther passed away over the weekend: she has been battling cancer for years. Bobby was promoted young. I think he was in his 50’s. He was a good man. I think Teressa’s mom is still living. I’m not sure, but I think her name is Sue.

June and I are disappointed that we can help with the WORK-DAY at the POINT but we will be at Doctor’s offices all day. They don’t get in a hurry.

I hope you had a good LABOR DAY holiday…they do go by fast. God bless you and I pray that you have a good week.

P.S. PTL, rain is falling gently on my roof, started just minutes after we posted the blog. Thank YOU Jesus!
