Scripture
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.
~Genesis 17:1, NLT

To doubt the sovereignty of God is to doubt God Himself.

There is a difference between Calvinist: they are not all the same. I like J.I. Packer and Dana Ortlund. In my opinion, they are exceptions to the rule but many Calvinist, especially the ones who claim to be Baptist, speak of the sovereignty of God as though they believe in it and we don’t. Ridiculous, we all believe in the sovereignty of God. This means that God has all power and authority. Psalm 62:11, “Power, O God, belongs to You.” He can do as He please when He pleases. He is not dependent on us and He can not be manipulated by us. We cannot influence His attributes. He is who He is and it has absolutely nothing to do with us.
God is sovereign; He has all power, but He is not a tryrant. He is in absolute control but He is not a dictator. He rules and overrules but He is not a despot. The radical difference between God and tryrants, dictators, emperors, kings, despots is–God loves us infinitely. Jesus is the KING of kings and the difference is not just in His power to rule but His incredible love for us. What earthly king would die for his subjects? How many tyrants love the people they rule? Folks, if God is not sovereign, we would not be here; this world would self-destruct and if He didn’t love us we would have perished from despair long ago.

Rushing home yesterday evening hoping to mow the front ditch: it started raining a half mile from the house. In our 25 years here on Iron Man, I never remember it being to wet to cut the ditches in the middle of July. The coons finally broke through the Christmas lights and got into the corn. June was so upset she ask me to cut it down. We would have had corn for another week or two. Whatever the coons and squirrels get, they will get off the ground and they better get it soon because I am about to plow it under. I hate to admit it, but even with high grocery prices in the stores, it is cheaper to buy your vegetables than to try to raise them.
Christy is still at HH. We are going over this morning. Don’t forget the prayer vigil Saturday night. Not to late to sign up. We didn’t have a good response. Not shooting for a big number, just one person or couple each 30 minutes.
I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
