The Divine Perspective

Scripture

And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.

~Romans 8:28, NRSV

Quote

The glory of the Christian is the he or she rises above the circumstances: in times of trial and distress they radiate cheer and good will.

I have never been to the New York City train station but I have seen a much smaller version in Washington D.C. We don’t have such stations in the South. It is a convenience enjoyed only by the Northeast and of course it is government subsidized. I am told if you stand on the end of the platform in the NY station you can see the layout and trains going in all kinds of directions which at times seems chaoitic and confussing, but there is a better view. In the control tower, they have the trains on an electronic map and you can see where they are going and their destination. We human are not in the control tower, we are standing on the platform. There is a lot that we are seeing that does not make sense. It would make perfect sense if we were in the control tower and saw everthing from beginning to end.

Beware of those who can interpret everything. There are some people who believe they have a special relationship with God and that He has allowed them into the control tower. No human knows the future; we all have a limited view. If Jonathan Cohn knew the future, he would be the wealthiest man on earth by simply playing the stock market. He does not know the future: he knows scripture and history and that enables him to make predictions but these predictions are in no way infallible.

No one knows the future and that is a good thing. God created us and designed us not to know. We must be content not to know. From our finite view point, there is a limited perspective. Thus we live by faith and trust the future to our Heavenly Father who we believe is good and knows what is best.

We got another huge rain yesterday evening, I think a half inch or more. We’ve had over 10 inches in June. It has rained practically everyday. It beats a drought, hands down! I am 57 and I never remember a rainy June, not like this one.

Keep praying for our cancer warriors.

Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
