A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence.

The term devil comes from the Greek word diabolos from which we get the English word diabolical which means characteristic of the devil. Diabolos actually means slanderer or accuser which is an characteristic of the devil. Satan means adversary and the prince of evil spirits. Lucifer means light bearer or shinning one. Satan is proficient at many things. He is a liar and the father of all lies {John 8:44}. He is serpent who tempts, a lion who devours and an angel who decieves. His goal is our destruction and his primary tool is sin. He knows the destructive power of sin and so he tempts us to sin knowing that will lead to our destruction.

Satan is not into building friendships or relationships. He does everything in his power to cause animosity between people. One of his chief methods is through talebearing and gossip. Jesus knows my every sin. He and I talk about my deep dark dirty secrets. He knows my heart, that I have a deep longing to be free of sin. He has the power to expose and embarrass me anythime He chooses. Thank God, Jesus can keep a confidence. This is not true of Satan, he uses our sins against us. He is always accusing us and unfortunately, he does not need to tell lies to expose us; sadly, the truth will do the trick. Jesus knows our sin and is here to help us overcome them. Satan knows our sin and is determined to use them against us. He wants to crush us with guilt, shame and bitter consequences.

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear; what a privilege to carry, EVERYTHING to Him in prayer. O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear! All because we do not carry everything to Him in prayer. Jesus is for YOU! It is Satan who is against you.

I don’t like writing the same day I publish, I miss too many mistakes when I proof on the same day, so there are probably some typo’s today. Charity Clark was promoted yesterday evening. No word on her COLS. Mrs. Edith Longs COLS is today at 1:00. Tom Salter and Joe David will be doing that service and they are feeding the family at DBC.
