Scripture
At last, when he had spent everything, there came a terrible famine throughout that country, and he began to feel the pinch of want.
~Luke 15:14, Weymouth
Quote
It is not enough to want to get rid of one’s sins, we also need to believe in the One who saves us from our sin.
~C.S. Lewis
In reading Luke 15 in the Weymouth translation, the truth about sin shown brighter than ever in my mind. Sin is decietful. It wears a pretty face but that face covers a destructive and diabolical black heart. Sin cannot be trusted. It offers much but it truth it gives nothing other than shame, misery, guilt, death and hell. It can appear to be very attractive and it has the seductive power to lead us away from our Creator. The Prodigal saw the power of money and he was attracted to life of sensual pleasure away from the restraints of his good, good Father. Sin played a cruel trick on the young man: instead of giving him pleasure and fulfillment, it took everything he had and left him in want and misery.
This is the nature of sin; it has no long term benefits. It the end, it will bring misery, loneliness and despair. Thank God the boy had a Father who loved him and was forgiving in nature. In the beginning, the boy was convinced beyond doubt, that money could buy him happiness, but it was all a lie. Money will not last. You think I am kidding, you will see what money will do when it comes to the judgment. In the end, money is worthless. You best come to your senses. Don’t let sin decieve you. Ironically, his older brother, who never left the farm was deceived also. He yielded to the sin of pride and in the end, he was the most miserable of all. Don’t let sin decieve you! Repent and join the party.

Joyce got to come home, PTL. I’m not sure about Lincoln and it is too early to text. Yesterday was a marvelous day. I am building shutters from my grandson and I’m under a shed: I got extremely tired but never got real hot. We do need a little rain at 1120. The garden is a dust bowl. We have four rows of corn up and a row of squash. I planted okra Tuesday and three more rows of corn [for the coons], if I don’t get a dog.

By the way, the man from Brandon, Mississippi, killed in the tragic boating accident, was a friend of our friends in Forrest, Mississippi. Forrest is about 30 miles south of Scotts hometown, Kosciusko. He and two others we anchored when suddenly they were hit by a speeding bass boat. The body of the Brandon man has not been released. His boat was cut in half. It is a tradegy. They might want to make some rules regarding the fog.
