Scripture
Even if my father and mother abandon me,
the Lord will hold me close.
~Psalm 27:10, NLT

If you don’t find contentment in Jesus Christ, you will not find it anywhere else.
~Warren W. Wiersbe
David’s parents did not forsake him but at the time he wrote Psalm 27, he was in doubt that anyone would stand with him other than Yahweh. David learned early that the only rock solid relationship in this world is with Christ. All other ground is sinking sand. People will disappoint you, break your heart, abandon you when you need them most. This does not mean that your spouse, family and friends will abandon you, but it does mean it is possible. There are at least a half million foster children in America and all of them have one question that dominates their thinking: “Why did my mom and dad abandon me? Why did they give me up?” Forty-five percent of these children are in non-relative foster homes; thirty-four percent in relative foster homes, six percent in institutions, four percent are adopted, four percent in group homes, two percent are living independently and one percent have run away. Divorce rates are high and they say that the highest rates are among Christians. So do not say, “It cannot happen to me.” It can happen: you can be heartbroken by someone you love and someone that should love you.
It sounds a bit crass to say that the LORD is the only one we can trust, but it is reality. Humans are flawed, all humans. This means we are always subject to dissappointment and heartbreak. It is never wise to put your complete confidence in another person, no matter how good they seem to be: they cannot forgive your sins nor give you right standing with the Father in heaven. Only Jesus can do those things. Neither can they fully comprehend your heart and your desires: again, only Jesus can give you sympathy in all situations. David was a seeker and the one thing he sought most was to be in the presence of the LORD. Seeking His face is seeking His presence. Do you have a desire to live in the house of the LORD forever.

For the first time in 25 years we have aquatic life in our ditch in the front yard. I don’t know if its frogs or crawdads but something is splasing in the water. Its about 6 inches deep and it is not being absorbed. I never remember water standing in the ditch. June says more rain today.
I hope you have a Good Friday. We have grandkids traveling today: coming home from the beach.
Thank you for reading the blog.
