Scripture
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places.”
~John 14:2, NASB

“If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”
~C.S. Lewis {not Max Lucado}
have all heard Jesus story of the prodigal son. It may be the greatest story ever told. This is the story of the prodigal daughter. She was young and ambitious and she fell in love with a foreigner. Against her father’s wishes she married him and moved to his home overseas. At first things went well. They lived in a small apartment and in a couple of years, she bore him a son. Before the child was old enough to know right from wrong, his father died and left them with no income and no family. She was forced to take any job she could find and they had to move to an attic where living conditions were deplorable. Life became very hard for this young lady and her son. They were cold in winter and hot in summer and with just enough food to survive. She thought about home everyday and told her young son about life back home. She talked about her loving father and his spacious house. She told him about the barn, the front porch swing, the pond and the beautiful meadows. They dreamed about this place called home but she had no money to get there. Then one day the postman delivered a letter. She recognized immediately that the writing on the envelop was that of her father. She tore the letter open and began to read. Inclosed was money for their passage and a note that said, “I love you. Come home!”
The world is not our home. We are strangers and pilgrims on this earth. We are living among foriegners and in the attic. Life is challenging to say the least. There is disease, death, darkness {evil} and despair all around us. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t get bad news in one form or the other but the postman is coming with our letter. It will be a brief message: “The Father says come home.” Do you think about home? Are you not disappointed with this world? If you are in love with this world, come go with me next week. We will visit some folks who are lying flat of their back, completely helpless and this world has no solution to their pitiful condition.

Praise Yahweh from whom all blessings flow, we are getting light rain as I type. Since mid-night, we have gotten .03. It is very light but I will take it. There were a couple of heavy cells but they missed us. If you are building on a new property, let me give you some advice: no Bradford Pear trees, no wisteria, no flowering Crabs and no pines. Oaks are the best. I love Maples but their roots will eventually come out of the ground. Pines and Pecan trees are messy.
Great Pastor Appreciation banquet yesterday at Keith and Judy’s. Absolutely awesome lunch. I ate two helping of mashed potatoes and redeye gravy. Then we had peach and apple cobbler for dessert. The pork loin was great; everything was great. Thank you Keith and Judy.
Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
