Conformity

Scripture

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may approve what the will of God is, that which is good and pleasing and perfect.

~Romans 12:2, LSB

A true believer, living an obedient life, is a constant rebuke to those who accept the moral standards of the world.

~William Franklin Graham

For centuries it was accepted that the United States of America was a Christian Nation. We sent missionaries to other countries and gave asylum to the oppressed who came to us for sanctuary. Immigrants were glad to learn our language and assimilate into our culture but this era of American History seems to be over. At the height of the Roman Empire, there appeared a disturbing sect which was upsetting to the rulers of the empire. They were called Christians and they gave allegiance to Jesus Christ. They refused to bow to Caesar. They refused to conform the pagan Roman society. The Roman high command then set out to destroy the Christian faith because it had disturbed their pagan unity. The Romans made the mistake of thinking that a person’s conscience could be controlled by law, so they made Christianity illegal and anyone found practicing Christianity was executed. They were confident that his would stamp out Christianity once and for all. The Romans were wrong. Their persecution had the opposite effect, it spread the Christian faith like a wild fire. They would spend three centuries trying to exterminate Christians but the faith grew in spite of the persecution.

We are now facing in America what the first century Christians faced in Rome. Our government is pagan and they are using every method available to conform us to their standard. They do not want us to condemn abortion or sexual perversion and they are increasing the pressure daily to force us to conform to their ways. I refuse to conform. I am a very small minnow in a huge pond but even I feel their scorn and contempt. Hillary refers to people like me as deplorable because I am deplorable to her. Personally, I don’t care what Hillary thinks, nor Biden, nor any other democrat/socialist/marxist. I consider the friendship and fellowship of Christ to be vastly superior to that of this sin-cursed world. I want to please Jesus but I have no desire to please a pagan government. I would be upset if I were not considered deplorable by them.

Some of you know that Timothy Keller and others were influenced by Liberation Theology. There is little doubt in my mind that the “woke” movement has been influenced by Liberation Theology. These are people who profess to be Christians and some are great teachers and preachers but they believe the church can never enforce social reforms. They believe the social reforms needed must be enforced by the State. Thus they are pro-civil war, and pro-civil rights, etc. I believe that slavery was destined to fail as an institution in America and that the civil war was a needless tragedy. Slavery still exist, we just call it something else. Human trafficking is a form of slavery and the powers that be are not doing one thing to stop it. Plus, the Progressive Party {democrats} have produced a new form of slave, the economic slave dependent on a check from the government. I believe, and so do many others, that big government is not the solution; it will in fact become our biggest problem. We live in a cancel culture. People like me are to keep our mouth shut. Our government doesn’t want any decent, they want conformity. I have to plans to conform. Don’t let them press you into their mold.

Love the cool mornings and the warm afternoons: perfect weather. All we need is rain. We all need something to look forward too and for me, it is rain. I am scheduled to be in Grassy, Alabama this Sunday for a one service REVIVAL meeting with one of my sons in the ministry. His name is Samuel Franklin Wallace and he is 48 years old. If you know me, you know what that means, he is ten years older than I am and still going strong. Grassy is between Lexington and Anderson. Anderson is very near where June grew up and her family banked there and I got my hair cut in Anderson. Harlon Hood pastored the First Baptist Church of Anderson. I think that is where he was with Shiloh found him. I could be wrong. Harlon, was at one time, the pastor of most of the folks at the POINT.

According to my sources; Teddy, Lisa and Deidra are coming up this weekend to visit our churches. It is a good time for me to thank both Grace Point and DBC for supporting Deidra and SLAM. She is planning to return to the field in just over a month. Continue to pray for Deidra and the girls.

I hope you have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.
