I am reading John Philips commentary on Proverbs. He has a story or illustration for every proverb. In today’s verse, “Evil people bow before the good,” he uses Joseph as an example. Remember Joseph was bestrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery, then falsely accused of rape and put in prison for twelve years. Then by God providential grace, he was released from prison and exalted to high office. Pharaoh gave Joseph all the credentials and authority needed so that where ever Joseph went, people bowed at his feet. Of course this literally happened.

At this point Philips uses his imagination. It is a “what if” scenario. What if Pharaoh said to Joseph; “Now that you are second in command and have your own royal chariot, is there any place you would like to visit?” Joseph’s response, “Yes, matter of fact there are some calls I would like to make.” “First,” said Joseph, “I want to visit the slave market. Then I would like to visit Potipher’s and his wife. Then we will tour the prison; I would like to see the guards and the warden.”

Just imagine Joseph and his royal entourage pulling up in Potipher’s driveway. The trumpeter’s sound the call to bow and instantly, Mr. and Mrs. Potipher are on their knees. She whispers to Potipher, “Who is this man?” Potipher says, “You know him as Joseph, he is the man you accused of rape. Pray that he doesn’t have us executed.”

Of course this is all conjecture but the fact that every knee will bow to Christ is not. Some day evil will bow to good.

I want to dedicate this blog to Perry Smith. Perry and I share a simularity, we have a tendency to fret over evil. Right now it appears that the bad guys are winning and that is hard to stomach. It does bother me that the Clintons have gotten by with murder, literally. Clinton vetoed the Partial Birth Abortion ban three times which means he had thousands if not million of unborn executed. I do believe that eventually, truth and right will triumph and every knee will bow.

We got a wonderful rain early this morning and for the first time in a long time, we got over one inch [1.3]. Hallelujah, what a Savior! It cooled down a bit but that is OK. Thank You LORD for the rain.

James Russel should be going in to his procedure about now. His heart has been in A-fib. Pray for James.
