First of all, let me confess that I am not meek but I do pray that the LORD by His marvelous grace is moving me in that direction. Martyn Lloyd Jones gives us ten characteristics of meekness in chapter six of his book THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT. I remind you, this is his opinion. I happen to think he is right but this is not scripture, not directly. Read the list and see what you think.

1. A meek man is poor in spirit–he sees himself as a vile sinner.
2. A meek man is not proud of himself or his accomplishments–he sees nothing in his life for which to be proud.
3. A meek man does not assert himself–he does not demand his rights and he has no desire to be preeminent.
4. A meek man is not sensitive to criticism–he is not easily offended.
5. A meek man is not defensive–he feels no need to defend himself, what is there to defend?
6. A meek man never feels sorry for himself–he does not give in to self-pity.
7. A meek man is altogether finished with self–he is dead to self and alive to Christ.
8. A meek man does not get overly concerned with what people think or say about him–deep down he realizes that he is actually worse than they imagine.
9. A meek man lives in constant amazement that God is so good to him–he is also amazed that others treat him as well as they do.
10. A meek man is content–in a sense he has already inherited the earth because he is content with what he has.

There is no doubt that the meek will inherit the land, the earth and that they will have authority in the coming kingdom. So this promise is both present and future. When the Babylonians captured Jerusalem, they either killed or captured all of the wealthy. The wealthy or noble class was deported to Babylon and they left the poor in the land. The same truth is illustrated in Luke 16 with Dives and Lazarus. Dives was rich and faired sumptuously. He wore fine clothes and lived in a nice house. Lazarus had nothing but sores. Death reversed the entire situation. Dives ends up in hades and Lazarus in Paradise. It is going to happen and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it: THE MEEK WILL INHERIT THE EARTH and run the Kingdom.

It looks like 2026 will begin with a bang: I meet Wednesday with DBC’s tech person to transfer the blog back to DBC. Big Mama is pumped; it will save her 43$ a month. I am excited because he is going to help me upgrade the blog. LORD willing, June and I will be moving in 2026. We have been living here on the Edwards place for over 25 years and we love it but it does not. belong to us and there are some things we need: a walk-in shower is one of them. So LORD willing in the next three or four months, we will be moving to James Road. The outside of our new home is in tack but I have to frame in a bedroom and remodel the kitchen and put in the new shower. It will take some time because I am old and slow.

Grace Point family: remember we do not meet tomorrow night. We kick off on Wednesday night January 7 and then on the second Wednesday we have our Italian PHD feast. Bo and David helped me last year and Bo has already signed up to help again. Sunday services are normal.

I wrapped up before walking to the office this morning. It was 26 degrees at 5:00 am. I think it is supposed to drop a couple of more degrees. Two days of this and it gets back to normal.
