Reasons To Praise Yahweh

Scripture

Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord; Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!

~Psalm 135:1, NKJV

We do not praise the LORD enough, and we cannot praise Him too much.

~Charles Spurgeon

Psalm 135 is a historical praise Psalm. It begins and ends with the Hebrew word ‘hallelujah’ which means praise Yah which is short for Yahweh. Psalm 134 is also a praise psalm that begins, “Bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who by night stand in the house of the LORD! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.” When I read these Psalms last week I saw three distinct reasons you and I should praise the LORD.

First of all, we should praise Him because He has adopted us into His family. We are both His sons and His servants {literally slaves}. We are His chosen ones. Peter said in his first epistle, But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. [1 Peter 2:9] So we praise HIM because He is our Father in heaven.

Second: We should praise the LORD because He is good [verse 3]. The LORD is infinitely good. His goodness is beyond our imagination. He is eternally good. He has always been good and He will always be good. He is essentially good. He is good through and through. He is not pretty good; He is purely good.

Third: We praise Him because He is Great! Yahweh is omnipotent: He can do as He pleases [v.6, Ps.115:3]. He created and controls the natural world, the lightening, rain and wind. He is great because He redeemed Israel from bondage in Egypt. He is great because He gave them victory over all their enemies. He is uniquely great, incomparably great because there is no God like Him–actually no god beside Him. The so called gods are man made and made out of metal or wood. There are mute, deaf, dumb and dead. They have no breath or life. They are helpless–totally impotent. So let every believer who has breath PRAISE THE LORD.

By the way, did you notice [134:1] that the servants to the LORD [Levites] stand in the house of the LORD by night. When it was operated properly, the Temple was open 24/7/365. The priest serve shifts and so did the Levitical singers. If you watched the CHOSEN, you saw this during the Festival of Lights. The spiritual significance is that we can approach God in prayer, praise and worship 24/7/365.

I am really hawking the October 29th BILL SMITH Jumbalya supper at 6:00. Lets make it an outreach event with our Sunday morning crowd being our target. If all goes as planned, we will do our Fall treat for the children on that same night, this is in place of our trunk-a-treat. A Konic Ice truck will be here and the kids get a free cone [5:00-600]. This is a tentitive plan. It could change. The Supper begins at 6:00 and you will not find a better dish of Jumbalya than Pat’s. It is finger licking good.

The Charlie Kirk memorial breakfast {men} is October 11 at 8:00 am. Kevin Beal will be with us on Sunday October 12 {Gideons}. October 13 is the Pastor’s Conference. The 49ers meet on the 24 and Jumbalya the 29th. I do love October.

Sunday is Deacon’s meeting at 8:00, Bible Study at 9:00 and we Celebrate Jesus at 10:15. We are doing COMMUNION.

Please pray for Charity Clark.

Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
