Crown Him LORD of All

Scripture

Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy. For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth.
~Psalm 47:1-2, NRSV

Quote

Let every kindred, every tribe on this terrestrial ball, To Him all majesty ascribe and crown Him Lord of all!

Dr. Wiersbe believes Hezekiah wrote Psalm 47 as well as 46 and it makes sense. Psalm 47 is a celebration or worship Psalm that the Jews use on their New Years day. In scripture and history, the LORD comes down to judge, intervene and save and then He goes back to heaven. The LORD came down at the Tower of Babel, He came down to judge Sodom and ultimately He came down in Christ to judge sin and to save us from its power. After Jesus death and resurrection, He ascended back to heaven where He is enthroned. The LORD Jesus is the King of the Jews but He is much, much more, He is the KING of kings, the king of the earth, of all nations. Hezekiah gladly affirms His royal kingship. Hezekiah acknowledges the LORD as King of the earth.  This is a messianic Psalm pointing to the future when Jesus will reign over all the earth and His kingship will be acknowledged by all.

I don’t pretend to be an expert in prophecy but it seems to me, as I read and study the scripture, that a DAY is coming when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD: matter of fact, I am quite sure of it. I also believe Jesus will reign on this earth in some type of Messianic Kingdom for a period of time. This may seem impossible considering the state this world is in but I do not see that as a problem. When a young man enlist in the Marines and goes to Paris Island, the Marine Corp is lord of all for the next 13 weeks. There has never been a mutiny on Paris Island. The authority exercised by the Marines is a drop in the bucket compared to the authority of Jesus. He who has authority over the elements will have no trouble ruling men. His word, His presence, His countenance will rule the day. There will be no rebellion: every knee will bow.

Hezekiah probably understood that a day lay in the future when the Son of David would reign but he didn’t want to wait to make his confession of faith; it took the liberty of acknowledging the LORD as King in his own day and time and you and I can do the same thing. Is Jesus LORD of all the earth at this moment? Yes and no: He is in truth but not everyone acknowledges the truth. There is coming a day with the world will be confronted with the truth and Jesus will be in that day acknowledged as LORD by all men.

  • I got word yesterday evening that Clara Miller had a seizure. I was mowing grass when I got the call so I rushed home and took a shower thinking I would be headed to Birmingham. I called Shohn for an update and she gave me some good news. She did not have a seizure but a reaction to the seizure medication. They have to get the medicine regulated [right amount] and the problem should go away. Thank YOU Jesus. We love good news and we were not disappointed about not getting to go to B’town.
  • I cut seven yards yesterday and I can honestly say, “I am tired of cutting grass, even with a gravely.”
  • We had three car loads come in from the beach last night while another is leaving today. Seth had landed in Germany before we retired last night. He should get to the Ukraine today. Josie gives me updates on the Washington crew. They got to meet Brice Harper last night. They play walk up music at the Nationals games and three of the Washington Players use Christian music.
