Scripture

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.
Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless {unborn}, and see that they get justice.
~Proverbs 31:8-9

Quote

A King should avoid wine and women and concentrate on ruling with justice and righteousness.

Remember, the scripture above is advice coming from Mother to son. These are not the words of a male chauvinist. King Lemuel’s Mother gives him good advice: [1] Do not use your authority and power to pursue your own lust and as a means of debauchery. Solomon would be a good example not to follow. No only were harems expensive to tax payers, they were a distraction to a king. It was women that did Solomon in…{I Kings 11}…Now King Solomon loved many foreign women…The LORD had clearly instructed the people of Israel, “You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.” Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway…And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the LORD …Solomon worshiped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molech, the detestable god of the Ammonites. In this way, Solomon did what was evil in the LORD ’s sight. [2] Keep your head clear and your focus on your purpose. The stupefying effects of alcohol and drugs are not good. [3] Use your power to help the helpless. Who is more helpless than an infant, especially the unborn.

I have lived in a time of shifting values and at the forefront in our society are the values about women. There are two extremes and both are fatal. In ancient times, women were treated like property. Jesus did more to liberate women than anyone who has ever lived. He treated women with dignity and respect; he valued them as persons and loved them unconditionally, something most husband are unable to do. The old adage about women was…keep them ignorant, barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. There are probably a few men who still think this is the way to treat women but they are becoming a rare exception. The other extreme is just as bad and much more prevalent today than at anytime in history. This is the view that women are the same as men with a few incidental anatomical variations: therefore, their jobs should be the same, their pay should be the same, their responsibilities should be the same and their restrooms should be the same. The feminist movement in America is a beast out of control; it is going to be the death of this great republic.  Feminism is the propulsion behind abortion and gay rights. A moron should understand that no two people are the same and an idiot should be able to understand the differences between the sexes.

Years ago, I heard an evangelist say, “There is something ungodly about a home where the woman wears the pants.” I’ve been in ministry for close to 50 years now and I can tell you from experience, a hen-pecked man will cause you more trouble and heartache than all your local drug dealers combined. The bible is filled with women who excelled in places of leadership but they were thrust into these positions, they didn’t seek them. No man should be ambitious about the office of deacon and when he is, there is a good chance his wife is behind it. I had a woman question me a few weeks back about women praying in the worship service. I told her, I had no problem with it but I could not think of a single woman in DBC who was ambitious about the matter. The women I know don’t want to be called on to pray the benediction. Like it or not, men and women are different and we have different assignments and roles. Men make lousy mothers and women make lousy fathers. Sometimes a woman is forced to provide, protect and raise her children because the man is absent but it is not the ideal. I know men that have raised children without the help of a mother but it is not the ideal. Two heads are better than one but when two people are riding a horse, one of them has to control the reins. Men are to be the leaders in the home. It is our responsibility to provide, protect and to discipline. If the bills aren’t getting paid, that is our responsibility. Truth be known, we probably have as many men evading their responsibility as we do women usurping authority. Even father Abraham was guilty of hiding behind Sarah’s skirt.

I have not stepped out yet but my weather person says it is turning cold today with rain and possible thunder storms. I cut grass yesterday and plan to visit today. LORD willing, I get to preach in the morning which has me excited. I plan to visit my cousin Karen tomorrow evening. I went to Birmingham last Monday and the traffic was horrible: I’m going to see if Sunday evening is better. I don’t see how it could get worse.

NOTES on Solomon. Most folks have not studied the entire bible and they think that Solomon was a good king; he was not. He started good but finished miserably. He brought Molech and Chemosh to Jerusalem and both sacrificed babies in their altar fires. Secondly: Solomon did not have a high view of women. Although he had 700 wives, some believe he never got to marry the one of his choosing. His view of women was slightly better than that of Joseph Kennedy. Feminism is in full swing today and the number one sin in America is sexual harassment. Even the mighty Cosby went down along with some Unholywood icons. What about the Kennedy’s and Clinton. The left wants Washington and Jefferson stripped from history because they owned slaves: what about the Kennedy’s and Clinton’s view of women? LIBERALS are such hypocrites.
