Judas Was A Democrat

Scripture

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?”
~John 12:4-5, NRSV

Integrity is making sure the things you say and the things you do are in alignment.

I was reading Dr. Wiersbe’s commentary on Psalm 41 where Ahithophel betrays David. Ahithophel had dined with David on many occasions. He became one of David’s trusted counselors and he was the grand father of Bathsheba. Jesus quoted the last part of Psalm 41:9…Even my bosom friend in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted the heel against me. Dr. Wiersbe thinks Ahithophel hated David for destroying Bathsheba’s marriage with Uriah and that he carried a ‘get even grudge’ against David. When Absalom rebelled, he had Ahithophel’s support. It is very possible that Ahithophel encouraged the rebellion.
Jesus had a similar experience with Judas and thus he quoted the last part of verse 9 in John 13:18...’He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ As I flipped over into the NT and read the account of Judas, it suddenly dawned on me, “Judas was a democrat.” Here is the evidence:
  1. He pretended to care about the poor (John 12:4-6) when in truth, he was trying to line his own pockets.
  2. He was always looking for a kickback
  3. He had no integrity
  4. He was a hypocrite

There are probably more but these four came to mind instantly. Trump asked the Senate to repeal Obama Care but I think they have decided to take a vacation. We have some republicans who are no different from Judas and the democrat: they are more concerned about ‘power’ than they are ‘principle’. John McCain and all the other weak republicans need to resign. They are hurting the party and the country.
