No Fear Of God

Scripture

An evil man is rebellious to the core. He does not fear God, for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin.

Fear God and keep his commandments!

In Romans chapter three Paul list the characteristics of the depraved and unbelieving world: they have no true righteousness, no understanding of spiritual things, they do not seek God but have turned away from Him, they deceive with their tongues, their feet are swift to shed innocent blood, they shun the way of peace and there is NO fear of God in their mind and heart. The chief characteristic of the pagan world is that they create their own god and refuse to acknowledge the true God. There are many in these United States who believe in a god that is all loving and is too good to allow anyone to go to hell. This is not what Jesus taught. In Luke 12 Jesus said, But I will warn you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him! God has two natures: He is a God of love and a God of wrath. If He did not hate evil, He could not love good and vice versa. Without accountability, there is chaos and chaos is self-destructive. If God were not holy, creation could not exist. For you and I to have any quality of life, God must be good and holy which means He must hate sin and judge it in an appropriate manner.

The reason the pagan world has no fear of God is that they have no true concept of the God of the Bible. They do not worship the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob; they worship the god of their own vile imaginations. They have not taken an engraving tool and fashioned an idol as the ancients were prone to do but in their mind, they have imagined a god who is dripping in undiscerning love and who is tolerant of sin. Those of us who believe and respect the biblical concept of God fear Him. The fact that one day I will stand before Him and give an account humbles and frightens me. Small children never respect parents they do not fear. At one time or the other, you have to teach them to respect you. We are so anxious to be loved by them that we give into their every whim and the results is brats who have no respect for their parents. I am about to get in trouble and I am not looking to baby sit, call Jason if you need a baby sitter, but if I were to keep kids, I would want to keep those who have a healthy fear of what their daddy will do if they disrespect me.

Will it is VBS week at DBC and I am the float guy, I just go wherever they need me and if they don’t need me at all, I go home. I started out at the lead teacher for the pre-school and then I got promoted to ice and garbage and now they tell me I may be popping corn. I usually take the tractor and trailer and ride kids but its suppose to rain everyday this year.

I do need to praise the LORD for another great Sabbath. The Sabbath didn’t mean so much to me when I was young but at 27, the Sabbath is really special. I need rest and lots of these days. I finished my series in Mark yesterday and LORD willing, will begin with the I AM sayings in John this Sunday. I also praise and give the LORD thanks for having my family all home safe and sound. THANK YOU JESUS. His GRACE is amazing.

One other stewardship note on giving: I gave away $100 last Friday morning and Friday evening a young man dropped by and gave me two $100 bills. I kid you not! When he drove off, June said, “Well, you have your hundred back plus a hundred.” You cannot out give God.
