Scripture
“Wisdom and power belong to God. Advice and understanding also belong to him.”
~Job 12:13, NIrV

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.

My major in college was Religion and Philosophy. I was not a great student but Philosophy fascinated me. Ancient philosophers were wise men, sages of their day. Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Thomas Aquinas, Socrates, John Locke, Kierkegaard, Leibiniz, spinoza were all highly intelligent and they all believed in two things: an infinite power and intellect. I’m not saying all believed in personal God who loves us and sent His Son to save us from our sins but they believed in an infinite power and wisdom. I guess we must add Job to the list but Job went a step further, he confesses…“Wisdom and power belong to God.” Speaking of God’s power, Job said…
- He holds the life of every creature in His hand
- What He tears down cannot be rebuilt
- He can hold back the water or He can send a flood
- He can make rulers look foolish
- He can transform a slave into a king or vice versa
- He can take away the wisdom of the wise
- He can shut the mouths of Sages
- He can bring total darkness into light revealing mysteries
- He can make a nation grow and He can scatter them
- He can make the most enlightened stumble in the dark like a drunk
The secularist try to paint believers as morons. I don’t know how many times I have heard them claim that Albert Einstein was an atheist. I don’t think he believed in a personal God as we do but he certainly realized that an infinite intellect was in charge. When I see a garden, I know there is a gardener. When I see a house, I know there is a builder. How many gardens or houses do you know that have evolved or just exploded on the scene [big bang theory]? Let them make fun, let them call us names but don’t let them intimidate you. Only fools believe in their heart that there is no God.
Another thin crowd yesterday but one glorious Profession of Faith {Hooty McCluskey}. Good lunch and plenty of time to rest in the evening. I did do some visiting late: Ruth was about the same. She is really sore and every move hurts her but she was resting comfortably.
