Peace And Calm

Scripture

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

~John 15:27, NKJV

Can we help other people without using them to help ourselves?

~Sarah Young

Sarah Young’s famous devotional JESUS CALLING {45 million in print} emphasis practicing the presence of Christ. She encourages us to stay conscious of His nearness. The pastors were talking about rest last Monday and I doubt that any of them heard me {we all try to talk at the same time} but I rest in my quiet time. I love being alone in my little building and turning my phone off. I love the peace and quiet and the reading of God’s word. The Psalms bless me daily. I just finished Psalm 119 in the PASSION and I loved it. The Psalms are like a healing balm to my soul. When I get into the Psalms, peace like a river attends my way. Satan does buffet and trial do come but the blessed assurance that He is In control brings calm to my troubled soul. I rest in Jesus. He is my refuge. I take shelter in the arms of His wonderful amazing grace.

Sarah’s point is simple. Jesus is the eye in the middle of the storm. Stay close to Jesus and live in the calm of the storm. The storm is raging all around you but in the center there is peaceful calm. I think she is right, stay close to Jesus. Are you weary, are you heavy hearted, tell it to Jesus. Cast your care on Jesus. Give Him your burdens. You can even give Him your pain and hurts. Has someone hurt your feelings–tell it to Jesus alone. We will never get through this life without some bumps and bruises but you can rest assured that one person cares and cares deeply–that person is Jesus.

Extra

My daddy would be 113 today. He had been gone for almost 30 years and I still miss him. He was a live wire. We are having a birthday party tonight at church. I think we have three that are turning 80 this month and another next month. Two famous Americans were born on March 13, Eugene Luther Bailey and Charles Too Tall Sanders. Great weather! I worked a little on the yard yesterday and hope to get some things done today since we are having the party tonight and I don’t have to study. The weather was great for the sporting events at DHS yesterday, about 73 degrees. I think we went one for four. The girls soccer team won 10-0 with Bro. Wally’s granddaughter hitting the winning goal. It was a walk off about 2 minutes into the second half. She is an 8th grader I think. The crowd went nuts. Our granddaughter Mylee got the save {goalie} and Josie had a goal as well.

I hope you have a good Wednesday and thanks for reading the blog.
