Scripture
“I will place One shepherd over them. He will belong to the family line of my servant David. He will take good care of them. He will look after them. He will be their shepherd.
~Ezekiel 34:23, NIRV

Jesus is the ultimate expression of perfection.
~Ya’akov
I’ve never read Ezekiel 34 without getting convicted. Ezekiel 34 is about pastors {shepherds}. The Shepherds of Israel did not do their jobs. They were to care for the sheep but instead of taking care of the sheep, they took care of themselves at the expense of the sheep. They ignored the weak, neglected the hurting, refused to discipline the bullies and expended no energy searching for the lost. The LORD said, “My shepherds do not care for My sheep. I am against My shepherds who have failed to care for My sheep. Instead of feeding my sheep, they are feeding on my sheep. Therefore, I Myself will search for My sheep. I bring those who have wandered from the fold back to safety. I will bandage up the ones that are hurt and I will make the weak strong. I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will take good care of My sheep. I will SAVE them.”
The apex of this wonderful prophecy is found in verse 23...“I will place One shepherd over them. He will belong to the family line of my servant David. He will take good care of them. He will look after them. He will be their shepherd.“ Ezekiel is speaking of Jesus the Good Shepherd. The rest of chapter 34 tells us what Jesus will do:
- He will give us peace…Hallelujah!
- He will give us eternal security…Wow!
- He will shower us with blessings…Unbelievable!
- He will break the chains that bind us and set the captives free…Glory to God!
- He will feed us…Wonderful!
- He will take away our shame…Incredible!
If we were perfect, there would have been no need for Jesus to come but alas we are light years from perfection. God sent His only begotten Son to do what we could not possible do and that is “Do it right!”
Praise the LORD for another gorgeous Spring day. I’m feeling a little better about the garden. Planted some pumpkins yesterday and 5 more rows of roundup ready sweet corn.
Big weekend coming up: GOLDEN GIRLS in the morning, Keri’s wedding tomorrow night and Josie’s Baptism Sunday morning. Plus, I will be going to Enon Baptist Sunday night to preach for Bro. Steve.
Then, ready or not, VBS begins Monday morning and I have a few things to do to get ready. We have a leak to fix at the pavilion and we have to get our trailer ready to haul the nursery kids.
Remember to pray for our Pastor.
