At Grace Point we are reading through the bible in 2019 and we are reading from the Contemporary English Translation. It is a very graphic translation and you will see things that you will not see in the more traditional versions. I would not base my theology on this translation but it will give you unbelievable insights into the scripture. Psalm 10 is a good example. I am a sequential learner and a list maker. When I read Psalm ten yesterday, I saw a list of characteristics that describe a certain political party allied with Hollywood and the media. It is an amazing list. Understand that the term ‘wicked’ refers to anyone who lives in rebellion against God. Note the characteristics of the wicked.
- They boast about and flaunt their sin. They feel no shame. [v.3]
- They are filled with greed and hate [v.3]
- They are proud: too proud to repent, to acknowledge their error [v.4]
- They are successful by the world’s standards but totally ignorant about the ways of God [v.5]
- They curse and sneer at their enemies [v.5]
- They feel invincible [v.6]
- They lie and deceive others with their tongues and their motives. They are the masters of the hidden agenda [v.7]
- They prey on the innocent, the unborn [v.8]
- They prey on the ignorant and helpless [v.9]
- They trap the poor and make them slaves [v.10]
- They believe they are above accountability [v.11]
- They have no fear of God nor judgment [v.12]
Wow, what a list. The LORD allows these fools to think they are in control and You and I are not going to convince them otherwise. Nancy Pelosi thinks she has real power and authority: she does not understand the truth. Like Pontius Pilate, she is ignorant of the facts. In John 19 we have the conversation between Pilate and Jesus: it went like this…
Pilate––“Why don’t you talk to me? Don’t you realize that I have the power to release you or crucify you?”
Jesus— “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”
Pilate and the Jews thought they were in charge but in reality God was in absolute control and the results is our salvation. No one took Jesus life. He laid His life down of His own free will. In Mark 10:45, Jesus said, For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” For reasons unknown to us, God allows the prince of the world to govern the affairs of men for a time but ultimately Christ will return and inaugurate His Kingdom. When that happens, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Christ is LORD. David is somewhat frustrated because he lacks the power to stop his enemies. He is powerless to stop them from telling lies. He cannot put a stop to their wickedness. I would stop abortion today if I had the power but I don’t. I pray verse two almost every day, “LORD let them get caught by their own evil plans.” But they keep lying and the ignorant masses keep believing their lies. David could’t stop them. Trump can’t stop them and you and I can’t stop them but God can and eventually, He will. Unless Pelosi and the progressives repent, they have no future.
We got to CRMC yesterday and within 30 minutes, they were telling us to go home. One nurse told June not to undress and another came in an insisted she get in her hospital gown, by the time she got in it, the other nurse came back and said, “You are going home.” I did manage to get one project completed: got Seth barn door hung.
