Scripture
A rope made out of three cords isn’t easily broken.
~Ecclesiastes 4:12
Quote
If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
~African Proverb
Today many rope are made from nylon but in the old days, most ropes were made of seagrass. You can still get them but but the synthetic ropes are probably cheaper to manifacture. The seagrass rope is made of grass that grows in salt water bogs or marshes. The grass is dried, then woven together into cords, then the cords are braided into a rope. No human can break a sea grass rope with his bare strength. These ancient ropes are incredibly strong. Obviously, Solomon was familiar with the braided rope. The more cords or strands, the stronger the rope.
The moral of the story is quiet simple: there is strength in unity. The devil’s strategy in taking down a local church is to divide. He plants a few tares among the wheat and uses them to divide the congregation. The devil has always been into schisms and isms; this is his modus operandi, and once he divides, he conquers. There is a simple solution but it is not easy to accomplish: we must all surrender to the LORDSHIP of Jesus Christ. As long as we are seeking God’s will, we are fine, but once we begin seeking our will, we are in trouble. The flesh cannot please God, ever!
