Amazing Love

Scripture

Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong… And may you have the power to understand… how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.

~Ephesians 3:17-18, NLT

Charity {love} is the soul’s beauty.

The very nature of God is a paradox. God is love and that is a fact {1 John 4:8} but He is also a God of wrath. We see these two natures converge in Christ and nowhere is it more vivid than Mark 3 and the healing of the man with a withered hand. Of course, we do see it again when Jesus cleanses the temple. As C.S. Lewis said repeatedly in reference to Aslan, “He is not a tame Lion.” Some would argue that God can not be both but the reality is–He must be both. If God didn’t hate evil, He would not love good. Of course, as a currier of the gospel, I had much rather talk about the love of God.

Jesus taught us that all the commandments are summed up in two: Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself. A healthy believer is one that is growing in both these areas. Your love for your neighbor and for Christ should be greater now than ever. Not only should you love for Him be greater but your understanding of His love for you should be greater. Can we adequately describe or measure His love? NO! It is an infinite love. I like Ezekiels analogy of the river that begins as a spring underneath the gate of the temple. As the stream flows, it gets deeper and wider. At first you can walk across it in not time and it is ankle deep but eventually it gets too deep to cross and you cannot touch bottom. The love of Jesus is too deep to fathom but we do sense or get a deeper appreciation for His love each day. Everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. Everyday with Jesus, we love Him more and more.

I actually saw a nurse practitioner yesterday but she was very thorough; she has put me on seizure medicine. I started last night and I do not have a headache this morning which may be the first time this week. I go back and see the neurologist in a couple of weeks and then a surgeon but I am hoping for no surgery. I don’t know if I told you or not but Miss Clara is back home. I think she had a UTI.

It seems like I was supposed to meet someone today and if you are that someone, you better give me a call because I can’t remember who it was. Lord willing, I will be here in the study all day unless I go to one of Big L’s baseball games. We are in Mark’s gospel in the morning, the Miracle of the Man with the withered hand. We will do Psalm 25 tomorrow night LORD willing.

I don’t remember if I have shared this with you or not: June got NEWSMAX added to our channel list for $12 a month. You will love NEWSMAX. Gas will be $4 a gallon if we don’t get these dems out of control. They are crazy. They are political termites–relentless destructive.

Have a great day and weekend! Thanks for reading the blog.
