Beware Of The Pits

Scripture

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me…He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground…He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.
~Psalm 40:1-3, NLT

David was exceptional in so many ways, yet in others, he was incredibly average. A wise man learns by instruction; the average man learns by experience [trial and error] and fool never learns. David learned by trial and error. He made decisions based on instinct rather than moral conviction. With Bathsheba, he looked and he took and he did both without thinking about the long term consequences. Then, to make bad matters worse, he attempts to cover his tracks by taking another man’s life. The first mistake was lame and the second one was just plain dumb. Taking a wife is one thing but taking a life is another. This sin not only produced horrible guilt, it almost destroyed David’s entire family. Had it not been for God’s mercy and grace; David would have been a goner.

In Psalm 40 David describes himself as being in a pit. It seems that this was self-induced. David prayed,

My troubles surround me— too many to count! My sins pile up so high I can’t see my way out. They outnumber the hairs on my head. I have lost all courage. Please, LORD, rescue me! Come quickly, LORD, and help me. If you are looking for a sermon outline, there is one in the first three verses: [1] The LORD Lifted David Up {out of the pit of despair} [2] The LORD Stood Him Up {put his feet on the ROCK} and [3] The LORD Tuned Him Up. He gave Him a new song.

David’s first mistake was inspired by his lust but it was pride that motivated him to have Uriah killed. We may not have made the same mistakes as David, but we have all been in the pit at one time or another. There are many pits, some caused by our sin but there are others like: depression, grief, loneliness, doubt and despair to mention a few. It doesn’t matter what pit we are in, Jesus is the answer and we need to cry out to Him just like David,Please, LORD, rescue me! Come quickly, LORD, and help me.

I attended the DHS girls game last night in Priceville. They played hard but lost it in the last couple of minutes. We had a shot but we couldn’t get or 3’s to fall. Everyone played well. I enjoy watching Jordan Hinkle. She plays with heart and she gives 100%. She never leaves anything on the court. I think they may have one more game but I’m not sure. The DHS boys play tonight at West Limestone, Big Mama’s Alma mater.

Big Mama is a Rick & Bubba fan. We were listening to their program yesterday and they mentioned someone I had never heard of…Quincy Jones. Sounds like a linebacker or a defensive safety but no, he is another idiot for Hollywood…this is what the moron said…

Legendary music producer Quincy Jones spoke candidly about his eight-plus decades on Earth, discussing a wide range of topics — Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Marlon Brando, Richard Pryor, racism, jazz.

  • TRUMP–Jones accused President Donald Trump and being an “uneducated rednecks” who is stoking racial tensions in America. Jones also said, “I used to hang out with Trump. He’s crazy. Limited mentally — a megalomaniac, narcissistic. I can’t stand him. A symphony conductor knows more about how to lead than most business people — more than Trump does,” he added. “He doesn’t know squat. Someone who knows about real leadership wouldn’t have as many people against him as he does. He’s an idiot.”
  • Ivanka Trump–Jones claims he dated her 12 years ago. This idiot is 85 and trust me he has nothing to offer. Ivanka says she doesn’t know what he is talking about: there was not date. It gets better…
  • Racism“The racism in the North is disguised. You never know where you stand. That’s why what’s happening now is good, because people are saying they are racists who didn’t used to say it. Now we know.
  • Oprah“I don’t think (Oprah) should run. She doesn’t have the chops for it.”
  • Michael Jackson“He stole a lot of songs,” Jones said, citing Donna Summer’s “State of Independence,” from which, he claimed, Jackson lifted the riff for his 1982 hit “Billie Jean.” “He was as Machiavellian as they come. Greedy, man. Greedy!”
  • The Beetles–“The Beetles were horrible musicians, Paul was the worst bass player I ever heard. And Ringo? Don’t even talk about it…he couldn’t do simple things. It took him three hours to do things that a good musician could do in 15 minutes.
  • Biggest Problems–According to Jones the two biggest problems in America are injustice and oppression toward Blacks [racism] and women [feminism]. He didn’t mention crime, Abortion or human trafficking.

I agree with him on one thing: Oprah is not presidential material. Have ever met anyone who keeps telling you they are over the problem but every time you are with them, they talk about the problem. The people who constantly talk about racism are the real racist. I will guarantee you that the man above {Quincy Jones} is a racist. The pic had bad language under it: I hope I got it all out. Jones has a filthy mouth and a feeble mind.
