Blessings

Scripture

May God be merciful and bless us. May His face smile with favor on us. May Your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere
~Psalm 67:1-2, NLT

Quote

A blessing is a gift from God that enables His people to reach out and bless others which ultimately brings glory to God.
~Warren W. Wiersbe

What pleases God? We know that faith pleases Him and faith prompts us to obey. I will agree with the Reforms on the ultimate end which is the glory of God but this process begins with our obedience to Christ, not worship. Can a disobedient child honor their parents? Will it help a disobedient child to write praise songs in honor of their parents and then sing them? The answer is no, honoring our parents begins with obedience. Jesus by His own admission always did what was pleasing to the Father. What exactly did Jesus do to please the Father? He did His will. He obeyed Him perfectly.

The heart of the gospel is found in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world.” We don’t go to the lost and tell them to give glory to God. They are far from that ability. I know professing Christians who don’t give the glory to God and many of them are Reforms. They talk a big game and the say with their lips, “Let God be glorified,” but they treat others with contempt and many are selfish with the resources entrusted to them. We are moved by God’s love for us and this is the message we have for the world–God loves you: Jesus died for you. Once the relationship with Christ is established and our love for Him begins to grow; He by His grace brings us to a point where we want His will to be done. We say with honest conviction: Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on the earth and in heaven. We fully acknowledge that the kingdom is His, the power is His and all the glory is His. In reality, giving God glory is more than lip service, more than words. As a matter of fact, when I hear a person repeatedly talking about giving God the glory, I question their motive. Generally speaking, folks who talk about giving Him all the glory are glory hogs themselves. I will put it is one sentence…You obey Christ and He will get the glory. You are not giving God the glory when you are robbing Him of His tithes and offerings. You are not giving God glory when you ignore the Great Commission.

Is God going to get glory? You better believe it! He will get it in spite of us. No one is all of creation is going to stop Him for getting glory. Eventually, all the glory is going to HIM and I am OK with that, hope you are but right now He gets more glory out of our obedience than He does our lip service. He blesses us with good things so we can bless others. God’s focus at present is on others: He has no insecurity. He knows that He will get the glory. You see it throughout scripture and you see it is Psalms 67: He blessed Abraham and the Jews so they could be a blessing to the world. Since Jesus is a son of Abraham, the world has been blessed by Abraham and the Jews. He blesses us so we can be a blessing to others, not so that we set on all the eggs and cackle.  What has He blessed you with that you are refusing to share with others. He blesses us so that we can bless others and this brings Him glory.

  • Slight change is plans for Wednesday night. We will begin at 6:00 but it will be a work night only. I think the YOUTH are coming on Thursday and we will do pizza Thursday instead of Wednesday. To my disappointment, the MEDIA BLITZ has been cancelled.
  • Great weather: I hope it stays cool through Saturday.
