This world has always been a dangerous place. Every day we are faced with risk from getting on the busy highways, where one out of every ten is under the influence of drugs, to the risk of being robbed or having our home invaded by thieves. Then there are the risk involved in weather related disasters such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and lets not forget fire. Most of us are broke from paying insurance companies to cover us in case of accident, sickness or storm but we are afraid to live without coverage.
There is a coverage that everyone needs, even the wealthy and I’m talking about billionaires. You do know that most rich people do not have insurance, their deep pockets are their insurance. If a man is worth 36 million, why would he have a million dollar life insurance policy that would cost him $700 a month or a home owner policy for $4,000 a year. But even the extremely rich need the coverage I’m talking about.
I was raised on a farm and seeing a hen gather her chicks whenever a risk occured was a common sight. In seconds, those little chicks disappear. Where do they go? Underneath the wings of the mother hen. Moses said, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Its the same picture as the hen and chicks. Divine protection is afforded to all those who dwell in the shelter of God. Just as the chicks are protected while they stay underneath the mother hen, so we are protected by staying underneath the Almighty. The way to stay under is to obey. When we choose to do our own thing and go our own way, we loose our coverage. There is no question, there is more than enough evil in this world to destroy you and your family. You need His coverage. Stay under the shadow and to do that, you have to stay close.
