I know that Christmas has come and gone, but this story is good year around. Ebenezer Scrooge is a character created by the pen of Charles Dickens. He is a greedy man who has confidence in his riches and has no use for God nor regard for man. He is a snarly, crude and rude dude. Long story short, he is an A-hole {pardon my French} and he works at it. He wants to be obnoxious. He works at being rude. His insults have a purpose. When he walks the streets, he does not want to be approached by beggars and his philosophy worked like a charm. No beggar would come near him. Scrooge successfully isolated himself from all who were in need. The beggars preferred to do without rather than hear one of his harsh rebukes.

Like the fool in Luke 12, Scrooge was obsessed with building new barns. He wanted get all he could, can all he got and then sit on the lid so no one else could get what he had. The results were obvious: Scrooge was a miserable miser. There are no happy misers. We poor find ourselves saying, “If I only had the money, I would…“but the truth is money could corrupt us the same way it did Scrooge. Not only was Scrooge miserable on the inside, he was ungrateful, and unfriendly: is this really what you want? It is not what I want. I want to be approachable. I want to help those who need help. I want friends more than riches. We can take our friends and family to heaven with us but we can’t take money. Gold is worthless in heaven: they use it for pavement.

Wow, I walked to the office at 4:00 without a jacket. It was peaceful and calm. We have not run our central in a week. I have needed no heat or air here in the office. Thank YOU Jesus! Wonderful weather!

You would think that I would get a lot done with Josh preaching Sunday but I have not. I do have a good visit with Steve Jacob’s family yesterday evening. Bro. Tim is doing the COLS and I hate to miss it but I want to be at Ty’s game. I got to visit with the entire family and they gave me the privilege of praying with them before I left. Steve was a gentleman in the true sense of the word; an avid sportsman and a die hard Auburn fan. I had on my Alabama cap and I left it in the car out of respect. He even had one of those gaudy orange and blue jeeps.

Folks 2025 is practically gone. It is incredible how time seems to speed up when you get older.

I hope you have a great day and yes, I forgot this was Saturday but I am going to post anyway.
