Flowers In The Valley

Scripturep

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The nightingale sings it most beautiful music is the darkest part of the night.

~Charles Spurgeon

Gwen was a wild, willful Scottish lassie who did as she pleased until one day she was in a terrible accident that left her disabled for life. She became very angry and bitter and was difficult to deal with. A missionary to the highlanders took it upon himself to talk with Gwen. He told her a story, the parable of the canyon, and she listened intently.

At first there was no canyon {valley}, only a broad prairie with waving green grass. When the master walked across the prairie, he said, “Where are the flowers?” The prairie said, “Master, I have no seeds.” So the Master spoke to the birds and they brought seeds from near and far and soon the prairie bloomed with crocuses, roses, buffalo beans, yellow Crowfoot, wild sunflowers and red lilies all summer long. The master came and walked the prairie and saw the flowers and was pleased but he said, “Where are the clematis, columbines, violets, ferns and flowering shrubs?” Again he spoke to the birds and they brought the seeds but to no avail. When he came back to check the prairie, he said, “Where are those sweet flowers that I love most?” The prairie cried sorrowfully, “I’m so sorry master but I cannot keep the flowers, the winds are too fierce and the sun is too hot. These flowers you love demand more moisture and less heat; they will never grow in the prairie.” The master spoke to the elements and an earth quake cut the prairie to the heart, ripping a big gash right through the middle. Then the underground springs found and opening and a river formed and traveled down the center of the canyon. Soon there was moss on the jagged rocks and vines as well. Trees sprang up and the violets and wild flowers began to appear. All the master favorites were growing heartedly in the canyon where they got plenty of moisture and shade.

The Missionary then looked at Gwen and said, “The fruit that our Master loved most is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance or self control. But the three they grow only in the canyon {out of our sorrows} is long-suffering, gentleness and meekness.”

For a long time Gwen lay still looking at the ceiling and saying nothing; then with quivering lips she broke the silence with these words, “There are no flowers in my canyon, only ragged rocks.” The Missionary said gently, “Some day they will bloom. The seeds are there and they will produce and you will see them and so will others.”

I thought I posted a blog yesterday but June couldn’t find it so I may not have hit the right buttons. I will double check today. Today’s story comes from STREAMS IN THE DESERT and Ralph Conner is the author.

They are giving bad weather for today. For some reason, it always falls on Wednesday. They miss more than they hit so I never worry in advance. Josh is an expert on weather. He is a storm chaser. He will not be chasing today because he had surgery last week and cannot left his equipment but he will be making our call. He will decide if we are going to meet tonight or not and it will probably be decided between noon and 3:00 pm. Then we will get out an email.

Continue to pray for our country. I’m not sure we can make it four years with the bozos we have in DC. The border is chaos. They are not only letting sick folks enter, they are allowing drugs and drug dealers to enter. They do not know what they are doing or else they are trying to destroy the country. Willfully or ignorantly, they are destroying the country and of course, they have the full support of the lame stream media.
