His Word Never Fails

Scripture

Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!

~Joshua 23:14, NLT

The Bible is the cradle wherein Christ is laid.”

~Martin Luther

The Israelites were given a land, one that we refer to as the ‘Promised’ land but there was a condition attached and you can find it over and over in the Old Testament. Joshua told the Israelites, as surely as the Lord your God has given you the good things He promised, He will also bring disaster on you if you disobey Him. He will completely destroy you from this good land he has given you. If you break the covenant of the Lord your God by worshiping and serving other gods, His anger will burn against you, and you will quickly vanish from the good land he has given you.” Up to this point, the conquest of the land, Joshua reminded them God’s word is trustworthy and true. His promises are absolute: what He says, He will do. He points out a very important fact, God has not broken a single promise; He is batting 1.000. Joshua wants to instill Godly fear and deep trust into the Israelites. Israel’s future depended on their obedience to Yahweh.

You can say the same for you and I. Our future depends on our obedience to Christ. Bro. Inman use to quote Proverbs 29:1 often, He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Pride leads to destruction. This is a hard fast rule, pride will take us down. When we choose to rebel and live in rebellion against God, He eventually says to us, “Have your own way.” You want no part of me, so depart to the place where I do not exist, not in terms of my influence or presence. What person is their right mind wants to be God forsaken? So the remedy for success for Israel was simple: “Obey God and live in the land–disobey God and be removed from the land with the lose of freedom. My one word of advice to everyone is DO NOT DEFY GOD. As Mary told the servants a Cana, “Whatever He {Jesus} tells you to do, do it!”

Have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.
