No Poor!

Scripture

So give freely to those who are needy. Open your hearts to them. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all of your work. He will bless you in everything you do.

~Deuteronomy 15:10, NIRV

Give to others as God has given to you.

~Moses

If the Jews would have obeys the laws of Moses in Deuteronomy 15, they would have no poor among them. Of course they did not obey. They were notorious when it came to enslaving and taking advantage of one another. We all know they will take advantage of Gentiles but they are horrible about taking advantage of each other. Moses law made it impossible to keep a fellow Israelite in your debt. Every seven years, all debts were to be forgiven. An Israelite could be sold as a slave to pay his debts but after six years of slavery, he or she had to be set free. Of course, they didn’t keep this law any more than they kept the rest. Moses gave them a plan to eliminate poverty but they did follow the plan. Moses rule of thumb is found in Deuteronomy 15:14, “Give to others as God has given to you.” In other words, if God has blessed you with extra, give what you don’t need away.

As I said, the Jews refused to follow Moses instruction and so there has always been poor folks among them. Some folks are under the false impression that there is no such thing as a poor Jew. The majority of Jews executed by the Nazis were poor or middle class. I am not trying to exonerate Hitler but the rich Jews could have prevented the holocaust but instead of preventing it, they profited from it. If you think the wealthy Jews are looking out for the less fortunate Jews, you are sadly mistaken. A very small minority of Jews have a monopoly on the gold supply and virtually control global banking. The Sadducees were never a majority but they were wealthy and powerful. They were the key leaders in the crucifixion of Jesus and trust me, nothing has changed. The Sadducees are alive and well and they are trying to rule the world. Hillary’s defeat was a big blow but they will not give up. I am not anti-semitic, I am anti-sadducee.

Had Israel been obedient to the law of Moses, things would have gone well for them and a lot of suffering could have been avoided. The same principle applies to us today. The world would be a much better place to live if we all lived by the principles found in God’s word. I’m not saying it would be a perfect world but it would be a better world. God gave the law to make life better not bitter. Our rebellion and transgression is the cause of bitterness.

  • We do praise the LORD for another wonderful day yesterday. We had one addition by letter, Eva Mareno, and two great offerings. Doug’s concert last night was perfect. It was a great day.
  • I wanted a little CHRISTMAS WEATHER but for Alabama, not Alaska. Baby, it is cold outside. I am thankful that I do not live in Chicago where it is -10*. Two good reasons not to live in Chicago: the weather and the crime.
  • The transition is going well, I have already put myself under Joe David’s authority. I guess I am officially the Senior Adult Pastor.
