Do you know anyone who gives God too much praise? Have you ever heard anyone exaggerate God’s goodness? Psalm 103 is a litany of praise. I always enjoy reading this Psalm but I especially enjoyed meditating on it yesterday morning. If you want something to praise God for or if you need a little inspiration to give thanks just make a list from Psalm 103. Here is a list of things we can praise God for or perhaps give Him thanks.

  1. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
  2. He redeems us from death.
  3. He crowns us with love and tender mercies.
  4. He fills our lives with good things.
  5. He gives justice to the oppressed.
  6. He revealed His character to Moses. {Revelation and the Word}
  7. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
  8. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
  9. He rules over everything.
I am thrilled with all nine but there are two or three that I want to highlight. I am so thankful that God revealed Himself to man. He did this through Moses, the scriptures and Jesus. In Jesus we have God’s greatest revelation of Himself. God could have remained hidden in His invisible nature had He so choose. We would not have found Him or discovered Him on our own. I love the WORD both written and Living. I thank God daily for my bibles and for the revelation we have in Christ. Wow! What a blessing. The morning after the election the first verse I read was Psalm 97:1, “The LORD reigns!” and I was refreshed immediately. I am so thankful that the democrats are not in control. I am thankful that the news media is not in control. I’m even thankful that Trump is not in control and I am truly grateful that I am not in control. The third highlight has to do with our sins. We have forgiveness of our sins in Christ. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. {Psalm 103:12} A companion verse is Micah 7:19, Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under Your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean! There is one more and it is Isaiah 38:17, But You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, For You have cast all my sins behind Your back. From East to West is an infinite distance. The ocean is seven miles deep in places and no human can see what lies on the ocean floor. Neither can we see what is behind our back. God puts our sin out of sight and when Jesus returns, He will put our sins out of mind. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
