Quote

The eighth day is the day after the end…the new beginning.

~Jonathan Cahn

Jesus was crucified on Passover and Passover is connected to the feast of unleavened bread. At the end of the feast, the eighth day is the day of FIRST FRUITS. Jesus rose from the grave on the eighth day marking a new beginning. The early church made the eighth day, the Sunday after the crucifixion the day of worship and rest. It took a long time to get the Jewishness out of the first believers, so I guess they celebrated two Sabbaths a week, Saturday and Sunday. That is just one problem. We consider a day beginning at 12:00 midnight. The Jews have never changed their practice of beginning the day at 6:00 PM. The Orthodox Jews do not go by our calendar. Their calendar began at creation, and it is 5782 on the Jewish calendar. Christ is in the middle of our calendar, so we have BC {before Christ} and AD {after Christ}. The Seventh Day Adventist and Seventh Day Baptist are not alike. Both hold to the old covenant on Sabbath observance {Friday night at 6:00-Saturday night at 6:00}, but Seventh Day Baptist are in fellowship with other Baptist and believe many of the same things. The Seventh Day Adventist do not believe in hell or eternal torment and are considered a cult. Seventh Day Adventist have a prophetess Ellen White and her teachings are considered scripture.

If you want to blow the mind of either, tell them you are an EIGHTH DAY BAPTIST. You believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection was the end and the beginning of something totally new. Jesus’ resurrection on the eighth day marks the end to the finite and the birth of the infinite. The resurrection is our link between life and eternal life; between the limited and the unlimited. Death is the end of the rule of flesh and the power of sin, the resurrection is the beginning of a life without sin, Satan and sorrow. Can you imagine living one day without a tinge of guilt or an unpleasant thought that brings grief and sorrow? Heaven is nothing to dread.

I completed a project yesterday that I had no intention of doing. I put a new bed in my small trailer so I can use it to ride the kids at VBS. I’ve needed the new bed for years. It was hard work, but the LORD blessed and by grace, we got’er done.

I have not talked with them, but I assume Traci and Gregg made it to Little Rock. Continue to pray for everyone on the cancer list. Also pray for Anthony Patterson. Anthony is a couple of years older than I am. He graduated NOBTS in 72. He is a native of Hartselle. He grew up in the Bethel Church {back when it was a member of SBC}. Anthony is in a nursing home at Albertville. He last pastored the Gum Springs Baptist Church. Anthony has had a lot of problems with his heart.
